You have to admit they are pretty close to neutral. It's actually gotten to the point where I listen to NPR most of the time when I'm riding around. I mean, what are you going to listen to when you listen to the radio? Rush Limbaugh, who I have at times defended in the past, has had PunditFact (a Politifact thing) rate a whopping 18% of his statements as True or Mostly True vs. 55% rated False or Mostly False.

When it comes to radio, what the heck are you going to listen to?
They are not very neutral at all.

If you listen to NPR much at all (I do, several times a week and always when driving) you know that they don't offer a whole lot in the area of opinion, and when they do it is very calm voiced and "rational". They're a bit stealthy that way.

But where they lean WAY left is who they choose to give a voice to. If you listen for a week, you'll see that NPR largely features liberal stories, people, and viewpoints. When they DO feature conservatives, it is to offer rebuttal, or worse, to softly ridicule.

NPR is civilized as hell but that should not be mistaken for neutrality. It's MSNBC for the symphony set.

Agree with CID here - NPR's a great station and they do a lot of quality work, but you'd have to be deaf to actually not hear the strong left-leaning bias in NPR. Doesn't change the fact this it's a quality station, but JSO remains off kilter as he has for the past year if he thinks NPR is neutral.

I just Googled it. I think you should check the sources who say that. You can use the site I use at https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/?s=Daily+mail.

Also, here's a quote from Scaramucci on the issue:
"It needed to be retracted, otherwise I think I needed to get more aggressive, but I didn't go to sue them or anything like that,"
http://thehill.com/homenews/administrat ... -overblown

Another example of the fact that, unfortunately, most of the "fake news" going around right now is coming from what I historically considered to be my "side."

CNN retracted the story and asked for the resignations of the people involved because the story did not meet their editorial standards. It wasn't because Scramucci threatened to sue them. That story is "fake news."
Left leaning Newsweek is where I read it.

IMHO, this chart would be pretty accurate if everything moved one column to the left.

Guys, I didn't say NPR is neutral. I said they are pretty close to neutral. And I do listen to NPR a lot. It's what I listen to the most nowadays when I listen to the radio. I know they are to the left. But I listen to NPR most nowadays because it's gotten to the point where there is nothing else I have access to that I think comes close to being in touch with reality.

For what it's worth, my perception is consistent with both the graphic posted earlier in this thread and with the site I've been using. Here is the graphic posted earlier in the thread:

Image

To the left. But pretty close to neutral. Also high quality. Now, here is a graphic from the site I like to use:

Image

Pretty consistent with the graphic posted earlier in this thread.

I think you're going to be hard pressed to find radio programing that's closer to the middle. You're not going to find anything IN the middle.

BTW I think sometimes we on the right accuse the media of left bias when it's not the media. Take the climate change thing. You all know how my opinions run on that. But the media are not being biased when they say that the climate science community has a general consensus that the planet is warming and that humankind is having an effect. They are not being biased when they report doomsday scenarios projected by organizations like the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. They are objectively depicting what climate scientists and people projecting the effects of the impact of climate change are saying.

That's like saying Chuck Todd is in the middle because there's nobody at NBC who is more in the middle. :dunce:

Indeed,
A point lost on many
I think the problem is Fox News wouldn't even report on climate findings by the scientific community (at all)
So any reporting at all of the consensus scientific community on Climate is seen as biased

Example 2
The left would not have reported on Benghazi at all after 14 days
So any reporting on Benghazi done months later - regardless of the accuracy or intent - was seen as RIGHT

I might have to side with 89hen on this one...
Chuck Todd wants to be a lot of things he isn't
and that includes "in the middle"

In his heart of hearts he sees himself as "Just reporting the news"
That said: He's more in the middle than every single reporter today at Fox News
Who have entirely sold their souls to team Trump now
when 7 months ago they called Trump on his bullsh!t
today they drink it like a smoothie

The middle is a moving target. But Chuck Todd like the Morning Joe gang is establishment and very much in the middle. The "progressive" left can't stand him and neither can 89. That should tell you something.

I understand if you haven't paid attention to stuff I've been posting for years on this site and before that on AGS. But if perchance you HAVE paid any attention to it you know that I am a libertarian conservative. Extreme conservative, in fact.

It just so happens that I realize that Trump is an atrocity. I realize that he is an extremely dishonest, horribly unqualified, and probably mentally ill person who has no business being President. I realize that the conservatives have really screwed up by virtue of rallying behind him.

The fact that I realize that my "side" screwed up in this case doesn't mean I'm not a conservative.

I normally try to avoid being ad hominem but I guess nowadays it's impossible. You just posted a piece about bias crafted by someone who is associated with Breitbart.

There's a certain irony to that.
