I find this thread fascinating. I'm pretty sure I've seen Sean Hannity before, and at the least I've heard his name. I probably couldn't pick him out of a line-up, but I know I should know who Sean Hannity is. But I honestly had no idea there was a Chuck Todd in the world before this thread, and that he is the liberal equivalent of Sean Hannity. I've always been an ABCNews guy (Peter Jennings fan and the local ABC station has the best news with Jim Gardner) and sometimes CNN during big events (I liked PBS during the last election, they had the gist of NPR but in TV format), so I must not be dabbling enough in the other stations.

In his heart of hearts he might be as liberal as Jill Stein but I just don't get that from his public facing persona.

I think you have to go over to Maddow to get Hannity's level of extreme

Actually, very rarely do we watch the national news. Too many sporting events these days. My wife is adamant that the kids play too much and too many sports. She might have a point but I'm too busy going from event to event to really sit down and contemplate it. :coffee:

No doubt about that. Honestly, it's the same concept as private schools. It's composed of people who think they and their kids are better than everyone else and have to separate them from the masses. It's hurt the Little League teams here, who used to be pretty regularly in the World Series in various divisions. That has dropped off significantly the past five years, and in the process is really hurting the local Little Leagues, funding wise. I guess that's capitalism though. White flight is perfectly legal. The Mexican invasion of Slower DE is an interesting thing to watch. As is the Jersey/New York/PA/MD/VA invasion. It's a pretty watered down area nowadays; completely different than the SL DE I grew up in. Can't wait to move out. 11 years to go!

Haven't seen many Mexicans out this way. We tend to get more Salvadorans, Costa Ricans , and Hondurans.

And don't get me started on those fvckwads from NY/NJ. :tothehand:

We were at a Sports at the Beach baseball tournament a few weeks ago & stopped at a Wawa at 7:15am Sunday morning & easily 80% of the people there were going to a baseball or girls lacrosse tournament. Those travel tournaments sure help keep the local economy flush down in the Slower.

A company owned by a Costa Rican re-roofed our house last fall. Very professional: contracts, guarantees, excellent workmanship, and clean-up afterwards. :thumb: Their bid was in the middle between an overpriced coastal firm and a local contractor.

Seriously? You care what country they came from?

Anything between Brownsville, TX and the International Research Station in Antarctica is Mexico to me.

This just opened three miles up the road (in fact, my house is a speck in the top left corner near the horizon), and it is wall-to-wall NJ and PA tags in the lot 24/7. And yet another Rt 1 overpass being built by Delaware taxpayers and PA/NJ/NY tollpayers:

Southerners will pull their kids out of school if it gets to 50% darkies.
Yankees do it if it becomes more than 10% darkies.

It's no coincidence that as Atlanta has filled up with transplants from the rust belt and megaopolis that it's become the most sprawled-out and segregated city in the country.

These people talk about how backwards the south is but would commute an hour both ways in Atlanta's hellacious traffic to keep their kids in a lily-white school.

I could do several JSO-length posts on the subject of Travel/Club ball.
I think there is a place for it, but not in place of recreation ball (Little League, Babe Ruth, Pony, Dixie, etc. in baseball).

My son played in the Babe Ruth system and was fortunate enough to play for the All Star team in the national tournament in the summers. The team then morphed into a league sponsored travel team for the remainder of the year. They got to play rec style ball, All-Star style ball, and Travel ball. The All-Star tournament was easily the highlight of the year. Winning a weekend tournament in Travel ball was nice, but nothing compared to playing in the national tournament.

My hometown sent 4 teams to the LLWS since the mid-90's. And were on ESPN two other years in the Regionals. An author from Cali decided to write a book about the town's baseball system while following that year's team. He made it clear that the national tournament was the highlight of the year. The entire St. Louis area is void of any Little League systems. It is all Travel/Club ball. :ohno: :ohno:

That's inaccurate for Slower DE. We've always been about 30% darkies (we held slaves and are more southern than yankee, believe it or not - I know because I have around 46 years of observation). Now we're about 20% darkies and the fucking Mexicans are moving in like cockroaches. They'll pass the negros soon.

Yup. Atlanta's hardly a Southern city anymore. Local accents are pretty vanilla (last visited Fall '16).

Elite club sports are out of control.
They are. This is the last weekend of Club Lax tournament season.

I have a month to enjoy of no games, though high school tryouts and soccer practices fall in that time frame. I'm sure my daughters would be great swimmers, but I like to enjoy my pool season of relaxing. Swim team parents try to get us to join, to which my wife and I politely tell them to fuck off.
