But it's a wonderful overly air conditioned oasis from the ungodly heat and humidity from May to September.
It's in sinkhole country, just a matter of time.

Oh, brother. People conveniently forget that it was former mayor Wilson Goode who dropped the bomb on his homeboys in the MOVE incident.

Curious about the former KKK member, Robert Byrd memorials in West Virginia. With dback's some equates to all beliefs, all should go.

Sweet Moses, 56 things. Why do we name so many things after people? I realize he was a Senator for more than half a century (or close to it) but yikes, that's a whole lot for what was essentially a career politician. I'm sure, however, that he's not alone in that regard.

Well, I think techinically the MOVE folks (a back to Africa militant group) would be the triggered group. Wilson Goode was just incompetent.

Then there's California Governor Jerry Brown and former first lady Rosalynn Carter, who wined and dined with People Temple leader James Jones.

Shame on ESPN. :ohno: :ohno:

ESPN apologizes for fantasy football segment compared to slave auction
ESPN apologized on Tuesday for a fantasy football segment of an auction draft where black players were sold to mostly white male bidders.
"Auction drafts are a common part of fantasy football, and ESPN's segments replicated an auction draft with a diverse slate of top professional football players," the network statement said.
"Without that context, we understand the optics could be portrayed as offensive, and we apologize."

On social media, reaction to the segment that was part of the 28-hour fantasy marathon was mixed, with many comparing the outdoor scene to a modern-day slave auction.

Bye George.

Chicago pastor urges mayor to remove George Washington statue, rename park over slavery
Bishop James E. Dukes of Chicago’s Liberation Christian Center made headlines in the Windy City on Wednesday for calling on Mayor Rahm Emanuel to rename Washington Park and remove a statue of the first U.S. president over his ties to slavery. Mr. Dukes told his Facebook flock that “it’s time” after Mr. Trump sparred with reporters over efforts to expunge Civil War-era monuments from existence.

North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper is ordering the removal of all Confederate monuments on state property. But this will not satisfy those seeking to scrub American history of all references to the racist government of the Confederacy.

The next logical step is to put pressure on cemetery owners to remove the headstones of Confederate soldiers who died during the Civil War. The sentiments expressed on most of those headstones glorifies the South and honors the memory of someone who gave his life for the Confederacy. If they can go after T.R.'s statue, they can devastate families by screaming for the removal of 150-year-old headstones.
The North may have been fighting to end slavery by the end of the war, but if you're going to take down statues of Robert E. Lee, you might as well go whole hog and take down statues of Grant, Sheridan, Sherman, and almost every other dominant military personality of that war. You would have a difficult time explaining the differences in attitude toward blacks between Northern and Southern generals. Or Northern and Southern politicians. Or Northern and Southern citizens.

Next thing you know JMU will have to be renamed because James Madison owned a plantation full of slaves (about 100).

And let's be honest, James Madison and Thomas Jefferson were the originators of the whole nullification theory (Kentucky and Virginia Resolutions) that fed Calhoun and then the Confederacy years later. You could call them the Godfathers of the Confederacy if you want. I mean, if we can have news outlets refer to a statue of Robert Taney as a "Confederate Statue" even though he never joined or supported the Confederacy, then everything is open for removal.
