I don't think the Southern Poverty Law Center is credible. When you classify something like the Family Research Council as a "Hate Group" that's a bit much.

I think the Southern Poverty Law Center pretty much falls under the umbrella whereby liberals define "hate" as "disagreeing with liberals."

To be fair, the US Border Patrol (I think it's actually the American Border Patrol) is not affiliated with the US government in any way, they're referring to the individual citizens who decided to form together and be a shadow patrol to guard the border. I don't think it's incorrect to say, at a minimum, that they are controversial.

With that said, the SPLC is far from a neutral observer in most anything they promote, and as such, like with any special interest group, their claims and positions should be vetted accordingly.

I have a colleague from a previous country I worked in whose brother is a SPLC employee. My coworker is pretty liberal but she has little love for the SPLC- says her brother is over the top and the organization is essentially coopted by the hardcore SJWs.

It's anecdotal, but when someone like her criticizes the SPLC it carries a lot of weight for me

The SCV is mostly for the descendants of enlisted soldiers

I'm an inactive member of the Sumter Camp in Charleston - all of my male ancestors who were of fighting age fought for various NC regiments, but my membership is tied to my Gr Gr Grandfather (maternal grandmother's grandfather) who was captured at Gettysburg. He was paroled at the end of the war and walked home from Maryland to NC

Regardless of the SPLC, I expect the rolls of the SCV will soon be inspected in order to initiate self criticism sessions and purges
