That said, with how quickly tech is changing, I don't think it's unrealistic to think football can potentially become the first virtual (pro) sport ever...perhaps in my lifetime. The NFL just needs to make it an immersive fan environment from the comfort of a couch.
Not sure if serious. Doubting.
Agreed. I've seen when EA Sports has a world championship for Madden and it's never really interested me. But hey, maybe we're old and the newer generations will embrace it. The Koreans already have pro leagues for different video games (no sports one yet, though, oddly).

It's not just Korea. And, there are pro leagues for FIFA. Airing on ESPN2.

I know - there are college conferences based on games like "League of Legends" now.

100 years from now we're all going to be labeled as retrogressive goons for having allowed this sport to go on

Think of all the statues that will have to be pulled down, either of football players or coaches or of politicians that not only didn't try to stop football, but either participated themselves or were spectators. This will be the final nail in the coffin for Teddy Roosevelt - he actually kept football afloat in the early 1900's when it was almost banned. He'll definitely be off Mount Rushmore if they haven't dynamited that thing by then.

I went to the LoL World Championship Semifinals at MSG; it was the first "E-sport" event I ever attended and it was actually really entertaining. I don't even play LoL but got into the atmosphere of the event.

It was also sold-out, so the demand is definitely there. Apparently the finals were watched more than the World Series, NBA Finals, and the College Football championship games.

LoL is fun to play - it's basically an updated version of the PvP part of Warcraft: Frozen Throne (I'm sure it was a II, or III of something, but I forget which versions were which anymore). I'm actually better at those types of games than I am any first person shooter games (I can't play Halo to any respectable level) so I stick with those, and sports games.

The LofL isn't as time consuming - I never played WOW but it looked like it sucked up gobs of time. LofL you can sit down and play for 30-40 minutes and walk away.
