That's because we know how to deal with traffic here. We just don't build giant highways. You want to come here? Two lane roads, motherfuckers! Deal.

It so cute you East coast jagoffs have time to cry about traffic in the middle of hurricane season. Must be on the way to a nail appointment or pedicure to have your skinny jeans in a bunch this early in the day.

I guess that expansion of 404 I rode on last night was a figment of my imagination? And the Route 1 mega-expansion never happened.

Why not 29 to 70?
Because I live one exit up 270. I could also do ICC to 29.

BTW, I've changed my mind. MD has the worst road anywhere at a specific time/day. 50 from bridge to Queenstown on a Sunday. Eff me. 7 mile back up last night coming home from the beach.

Man, that's gotta be rough crossing the Bay Bridge six times a year. I don't know how you do it.

Only a 7 mile backup? It's not unusual to see 20-30 mile backups coming into the Twin Cities on a Sunday. Everyone is coming back from lake country. Leaving town late afternoon on a Friday can see stop and to traffic for 50 miles, slow downs for over 100 miles. When Minnesota widens a road, it's for a bike lane.

That would be reserved for I-95 in Fredericksburg, VA.

Let's see, off the top of my head this summer alone:

Truck flipped across the median on 50 two Thursdays ago between St Margaret's and Bridge
Fatal wrong way head on in the morning on 50 at Baydale a couple months back
Fatal wrong way head on in afternoon with girl from Salisbury at 50 and 2 after she left Wawa.

Yeah no. I beat you every week.

I think the worst one I posted here in a picture one time. Backup was from west of Bowie through Kent Narrows. The overhead message board said something like: "Bay Bridge 21 miles, 220 minutes"

That was another flipped semi

Not my fault you commute across the pond. 8-) I actually told Mrs89 that I may have to reconsider going to the beach ever again. It's just a sucky way to end the weekend.

This. 95 needs another lane or 3, and the Rappahannock needs another bridge. Maybe Hogan wouldn't mind sending some MD tax $$$ our way...

Well dang - when you're right you're right:
Congratulations, Washington-area drivers. You can now claim the worst traffic “hot spot” in the country — a stretch of Interstate 95 in Northern Virginia that averages a whopping 23 traffic jams a day, according to a new study released Wednesday.

Motorists heading south on I-95 between the Fairfax County Parkway and Exit 133 in Fredericksburg lose an average 33 minutes in backups that leave brake lights stretching an average 6.5 miles, according to the report by INRIX, a Kirkland, Wash.-based traffic data firm.

If congestion doesn’t improve over the next decade, the researchers said, that stretch of I-95 will cost local motorists $2.3 billion in wasted time, lost fuel and additional carbon emissions. Nationwide, continued traffic congestion could cost drivers $2.2 trillion over the next decade, the study found.

That article contains the dumbest quote I’ve read all week:
Northern Virginia’s roads won’t see relief, Schwartz said, until the region’s growth plans insist on more affordable housing closer to jobs and transit options.
Since when has property within walk/bike distance of VRE/Metro ever been “affordable”?

Is this individual familiar with supply/demand principles?
