Wolfowitz Damages Iranian Opposition Leader....

Wolfowitz: U.S. should reach out to Moussavi

-Opposition made it very clear they want support," Paul Wolfowitz tells CNN
-Wolfowitz calls opposition leader Mir Hossein Moussavi "a very brave man

Paul....really....you have no credibility....the quickest way to extinguish global support for this movement if for dikheds like yourself and Cheney to vocally support the movement. Why don't you go take some cirgarettes to Chalabi, your last "great savior" of the Iraqi freedom movement, on your next prison visit......

Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz, who favored going to war in Iraq and was a patron of Chalabi, did not respond to numerous requests this week for an interview.

Wolfowitz's spokesman, Charley Cooper, said in an e-mail that Wolfowitz believed that Chalabi and the Iraqi National Congress "have provided valuable operational intelligence to our military forces in Iraq which has helped save American lives."

Well somebody needs to step up - it's not like Obama's using his bully pulpit and international good-will to bring pressure on Iran.

Unless you want the US to intervene militarily, what Obama is doing IS the right thing.

I disagree. I think our perceived help would do more harm than good. Obama should play this close to the vest, like he has done.

agree 100%

the neocons (wolfowitz among them) have been frothing that this is their excuse for the war these keyboard commandos have wanted for years.

the minute the us "steps up" Ahmadi and the fanatic Ayatollahs will have someone to play against and rally their nation to the flag against Moussavi who they can then brand a "puppet of the west"

no sir, you cannot give someone that kind of excuse.

Obama has a plan to add Iran to the US mideast Satalite network. It's not transparent, but he has a plan.

Ill advised or not, Wolfowitz is at least true to the Neoconservative movement by his statements. A good read into the origins and prime movers in the Neoconservative movement can be found in "Assassin's Gate" by George Packer. I was in Iraq back while the events that shaped the book were in their final stages and I found it lacking in some respects, but the portions that deal with the ideology and aims of Neoconservatism are very interesting as well as surprising. It might come as a surprise to some people that Neoconservative movement was actually birthed out of the East Coast liberal academic community. Think of a peace/love/puppy dogs liberal who has an epiphany that peace love and puppy dogs (read: democracy) should be brought to the rest of the world whether they like it or not. That's your Neocon movement in a nutshell.

... wow all it needs is a call for "labensraum"...

best part of neoconservatism is it's obsession with use of military force by guys who... to the man... have never served a day in uniform... ever notice that?

The fact that most of them come from academic liberal circles it is not surprising. However, if you take away Bush and Cheney (who are not Neoconservatives, BTW) that leaves Wolfowitz and Rumsfeld as the front line faces of the movement. Rumsfeld did serve in the military. He was a naval aviator. His active duty was relatively short, but he remained as a drilling reservist and his total service was 21 years.

I think Rummy served, but yes, neocons are for whom the phrase "chickenhawk" was coined. Damn shame that tough bastards like Newtie and Cheney and Wolfie (oh my) never got a chance to spend some quality time with a rifle company.
