This thread has so far been people on one side of the issue with ideas that might help the problem.

The other side just shits on them and call them imperfect.

Actually I don't think the Constitution prohibits States restricting arms. The Bill of Rights applies to the Federal Government. I think the Supreme Court made up the idea that the 14th Amendment extends the specific prohibitions enumerated in the Bill of Rights per se to apply to the States. Like for instance it's clear that States could establish State churches and also discriminate against people that weren't members of it. As I wrote earlier that's what the Jefferson exchange with the Danbury Baptists was all about. Notably, he did not say the Federal government could do anything to directly help them.

I think a lot of State Constitutions have a right to keep and bear arms in them anyway though. http://www2.law.ucla.edu/volokh/beararms/statecon.htm

Now, I realize that as a practical matter we're governed by the Federal Judiciary rather than the Constitution. I'm just saying that people have become accustomed to saying "Constitutional this" or "Unconstitutional" that when it's not the Constitution at all. It's really that Federal Judiciary having made things up.

I think Jon would concede that Senator Diane Feinstein knows more on this subject that he does...and as I posted above, she is flummoxed because she had to admit that none of her proposals (that made ito the form of a proposed law) would have stopped these shootings...

Come on, that's just silly talk. I can do the same, quoting from the same amendment; "...well regulated...". Clearly, as some people on here have stated, there are 3,000 gun-related laws on the books and the SCOTUS hasn't struck every one of them down, so the debate is more involved that your pithy rejoinder.

2nd amendment supporters need to just shut up. There is NOTHING to discuss with the left.

You need to prove I am not "well regulated" or a "militia".........which for the sake of this (nonarguement) have both been taken care of on my end.
