But seriously, have you decided who your next team will be after Brady retires? There are a bunch of teenage boy relatives of mine who adopted Brady and the Pats and they're going to need to know who to root for next. If you could tip me, I'd be much obliged.
So you know that I lived in Boston (twice) right..?
Here's my tip: my next player up after Brady retires will be Joe Flacco
The two Harvard attempts does not a Boston resident make, but that’s just my humble opinion. If we’re making fandom decisions based on brief residencies, I could claim Redskins, Ravens, Panthers, Falcons, Cardinals, Chargers, and maybe some others I’m forgetting.

Dear Lord! I have lived in shitty football country!!

 God bless you - you magnificent bastard - that is a gold star post

10 years is no "brief residence"
The Italian still has a place in Boston too
I will always look back fondly at my time in Bostons - she calls it "Bostons" which is really cute

OK ten years is a different story. I’ll let you go this time.

But seriously. It’s the Eagles, isn’t it. We can already tell who you’re lining up next. We’re pretty parochial here though, and we don’t really want you.

I tend to like teams based on their coaching staff and schemes
So Jim Schwartz (may the Schwartz be with you) is one of my favorite defensive coaches
The guy turned down (like a mother fucking bad ass) the Buffalo Bills Head coaching job
after they fired what's his butt and just assumed Schwartz would take the job (I loved that so much)
He was all like, "Yeah, no thanks... your GM is a cunt"

Anyway
And the new top guy in Philly is Andy's old QB whisperer
So you gotta like that - he's got Wentz in a scheme that any young QB would only dream about
and since Carson Wentz doesn't bounce his check down passes (ah la' Flacco)
and since Wentz looks left to move the safety instead of starring at one guy for 6 seconds (see: Flacco)
and since Wentz is developing his pocket awareness and moving UP (forward) in the pocket
even though every instinct in your body tells you to go back... he moves up (see: Brady and Rogers)

I am absolutely enjoying the Eagles

I just hope the Wentzter can stay as healthy as Brady and Flacco have. That's the only thing that can stop the next 10-15 years of very successful Eagles football. He seems "special". Kind of like McNabb, but more accurate and not as black and able to keep his Chunky Soup down in stressful games.

This is a really important time for the Eagles right now
Wentz is in the middle of a very friendly rookie deal - even his 5th year option is like $8.5 Mil

The Eagles can add some reasonably expensive proven talent in key spots over the next 3 seasons

Brad Johnson
Is this Gannon guy better than Brad Johnson..?
Sweet Moses. I think we all understand by now that you're knowledge of pro football is pretty wanting, but heck, you don't even recognize a former NFL MVP (Gannon was MVP of the entire NFL in 2002). Such a pity.

and yet statistically (over his career) he's about the same as Brad Johnson
minus one Superbowl victory of course

:coffee:

Of all the NFL MVP's Shaun Alexander and Rich Gannon are the most meaningful

Gruden said Gannon was better. And Dennis Green eventually choose Johnson over Gannon so again, advantage Gannon.

And we've already established the Dilfer-related Super Bowl win evaluation. Brad Johnson was along for the ride, ala Trent Dilfer.

And yes, if you look at the entirety of the career, Gannon is slightly better (i.e. not "about the same") as Brad Johnson. But since Gannon only really got a chance to start with Gruden with the Raiders at the tender age of 34 (injury and the aforementioned detriment of having to play for Dennis Green before that) if we look at those years it becomes quite evident that Gannon was a far superior QB to Brad Johnson. But of course, you already knew that.

It's a thin line between Gannon and Johnson...
Unless you talk about delivering in the big games - then there is some separation

Just another reason why Flacco won't be around for another contract - no point playing when you already have millions forever and you take a cheap shot like that, and the guy doesn't even get ejected. If I already had my money I'd leave the NFL too.

But Joe's not Tom...
Brady has gotten to throw to Randy Moss, Rob Gronkowski, Aaron "I'll Kill You" Hernandez, Wes Welker, Julian Edelman, Deion Branch, and Troy Brown. And has mostly had at least one of those guys at the same time. Again, the best Flacco had was Ray Rice and then both Steve Smith and Anquan Boldin in retirement years. Brady's WR's (many who were good/great before Brady - Moss, Branch, and Brown have more receptions from QB's not named Brady) are >>>>> better than Flacco's. And we haven't even gotten into the video surveillance advantage - Joe's been held back by the Ravens playing by the rules. :coffee:
