Re: Seems like we need a new Intelligent Design thread.
How about we get back to the fact we have evolutionists who believe evolution needs to add more tools to the box? Just like the intelligent design field has been saying for years. While they may not be correct, they are at least practicing science the way it should be - stop pounding the square peg in the circular hole.
How about we talk about empirical evidence, like the complex machinery that nobody can explain because it doesn't follow the rules of mutation and natural selection. How about our DNA, which was labeled as being full of junk DNA and is being found to be very much NOT junk at all? How about the lack of intermediate species?

Here is the Charles Darwin quote:Sounds pretty much what ASUG8 said.“It is impossible to answer your question briefly; and I am not sure that I could do so, even if I wrote at some length. But I may say that the impossibility of conceiving that this grand and wondrous universe, with our conscious selves, arose through chance, seems to me the chief argument for the existence of God; but whether this is an argument of real value, I have never been able to decide.”
Now where in Bible does it say God didn't put life in motion?
Master trolling by the way. The only one on this thread who knows all about God is you. Classic! You can't lose!
You said I distort the bible - then proceed to not show where I do that
So you make a post about me specifically then slide on to something else
Also know
That the God that Darwin speaks of (and ASUG8)
is about 180 degrees away from your Christian God of the Bible
Which one do you choose to believe in exactly..?
Or explain how the Biblical God could also be the set it and forget it God
Because they behave very differently and I'm curious about how that works
Thank you
I look forward to any explanation at all
on either of the questions presented to you

Re: Seems like we need a new Intelligent Design thread.
How many times do I have to tell you? You conflate the covenants. If you know the Bible as you profess, there shouldn't be a need for further explanation. To put it generally, you talk about the old meany God and apply it to everything, as though Jesus never fulfilled all the covenant requirements that allowed everyone to talk to God directly and be forgiven of sin. Pretty basic but you seem to keep stepping on that rake over and over.Chizzang wrote:My point is simple...SeattleGriz wrote:

Your second question is so vague, one can't possibly know where to start. How are you seeing the Biblical God vs the set it and forget it God.
You also never answered my question about what denomination and if you actually gave yourself to Christ? Or is "identify" with being a Christian your way of saying it was lip service?
You are a master of dodging the direct questions.

When you make a claim that I conflate you need to back it up with at least one example (just one)
otherwise it just more drivel
Next:
You seem really eager to inherit the Set-it-and-forget-it God to replace your Biblical god
The Biblical god is an interactive God - a God of direct action
a god of judgement and condemnation as well as rewards and gifts
a God that has his hand in the lives of every man woman and child
tilting the scales of daily lives and events as they unfold
And up there you say I claim to know God
But I have always argued that NOBODY knows more about God than anybody else
I just listen to what people like you tell me about God and what God does and doesn't do
and the End Times and actively healing the sick and bestowing miracles on the chosen ones
What can anybody really know about God..?
despite the outlandish claims - what really

To put it generally, you talk about the old meany God and apply it to everything, as though Jesus never fulfilled all the covenant requirements that allowed everyone to talk to God directly and be forgiven of sin. Pretty basic but you seem to keep stepping on that rake over and over.
This also applies to the your statement about the Biblical God. He didn't seem to get too involved after Jesus fulfilled all the requirements and thus why many talk about how God isn't spoken much about in the New Testament after the Old being full of his minglings.
You said that you read the Bible, but so did I and what I overwhemingly got, was a God that was trying over and over to have a relationship with man, but we kept messing it up, so He had to bring in Jesus to keep from constantly having to straighten us out. We shit on God over and over in the Old Testament and he stepped in. Jesus stopped that requirement.
You don't listen either. You constantly tell others what they have said when they didn't actually say it.
I get, and agree that nobody can truly know God by Himself, but you keep missing the point that is also what Jesus allowed. For Christians to come directly to God and speak to Him. Why do you think we don't have to tie ropes around the priest's waists when they enter the Holy of Holies...because Jesus allows us to stand in front of God without being killed and thus having our dead body dragged out.
To summarize. You keep talking about God as if Jesus didn't account for anything. Jesus changed everything.
So, what denomination and did you give yourself to Christ? For the third time?

I was raised Episcopal and even became an acolyte
Okay so... Jesus is on record for raising the dead probably 4 times
But first he turns water into wine
Then after multiple and various but significant magical healings
he catches a magical shoal of fish and feeds thousands
Then very importantly he raises a widows son from the dead
(Yes, Jesus God raises the dead)
Then shortly thereafter he talks to God and actually turns off a storm at sea
Then he raises Jairu's daughter back from the dead (major miracle right there)
Then he returns the gift of sight back to two men who were born blind
On two different occasion Jesus feeds 5,000 women and children from nothing
Then he walks on water (This is mentioned in all of the gospels a few times)
The he heals "thousands" in Gennesaret as he passes through the hoards
I'm pretty sure he brings Lazarus back from the dead (That's pretty amazing)
and there are probably 30 or 40 miraculous God and Jesus events the list goes on and on
So yeah... This is NOT set it and forget it God
This is a highly interactive God

For those who are skeptical on Gog Magog, you don't find it odd that that the countries named over 3000 years ago are aligned today, with exception of Turkey? Watch Turkey, that is the next domino to fall into place.

First off, congratulations on accepting Christ as your Lord and Savior, even if you have chosen a different path, (no slam intended) you still committed and that is commendable.Chizzang wrote:You're making this too easy...SeattleGriz wrote:

Secondly, I'm not seeing how you are squaring God setting evolution in motion with that of the Biblical interactions between God and man.
