The Holly Neher Saga Ain't Over Yet...
Three weeks after tossing the first TD pass by a girl in Florida HS history, Neher made history AGAIN.
Just before kickoff of a Hollywood Hills tilt with Pompano Beach, three weeks after that history-making touchdown, the head coach informed Neher that she was starting. An 85-yard screen pass was called back, but she made good later with a 67-yard screen pass that went clear to the end zone. She completed five passes for more than 120 yards, with that one official TD and a pick. Hollywood Hills went on to win 51-27.
Things keep getting better and better for this amazing QB....

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

My last year of coaching (Cheney Parks and Rec 10-12 year old flag football), my starting QB was a girl. She was QB because she was one of the tallest and most athletic kids on the team and could spin it. She was also great at free safety with her height and ability to go win 50/50 balls which were a staple of offenses in the league with a taller receiving corps.
My associate head coach was also a chick as well as a charge nurse who played roller derby in her spare time.
We went 12-1 over two seasons.

Nice. I love roller derby, too. I follow a flat-track team in Sac, but it's been awhile since I've made it up there. All of my favorites have either retired or joined other teams. I'll never forget the Mathemortician, the Jennergizer Bunny, and The 4Closer, all outstanding jammers.
