Nebraska booted him off the force and the Nebraska Supreme court backed it up, what did Nebraska do wrong?

Cleets, this guy is part of an organization that is LINKED to the KKK, not an actual member of the group. This is fascistic thought-crime prosecution. He shouldn't have been fired even if he actually was in the KKK. I don't buy the argument that he can't be a good LEO because of his views about blacks and jews. A lot of us here on CS don't believe we should pay as much money in taxes as we do but we don't cheat on our taxes or try to evade them in any capacity just the same.
Pwns,
You can believe whatever makes you feel better...
This planet has had some interesting history revolving around people defending the idea it's okay to be pathologically insane regarding the sanctity of human life...

The idea that some people are humans and some are not humans has been the single most dangerous idea in the long and interesting history of man...

Defend away - but you put yourself in some interesting historical company when you do
This is America, and he can believe whatever he wants to as long as he upholds his oath as an officer and obeys the law as a citizen. Using that kind of logic we should fire any LEO that disagrees with any of our laws as they might not uphold them and are unfit to be officers.

Ever heard of the college professor that got into trouble when it was discovered that he was a member of the national socialist party? The guy had already been a professor for years and had not gotten any complaints about unfair treatment from minority students. And the national socialist party's beliefs are pretty much the same as the modern day KKK. Most skinheads/neonazis/klan members are low profile about their beliefs.

I wouldn't trust this officer in his line of duty. Omaha has a significant black population, and when I lived there in the late 1980's, there was a lot of press about the police profiling blacks, wrongful arrests and shootings. This is not the place for this officer.

You're using a weak argument...
That's like me saying: This is America, and because of the right to free speech - I'm going to yell Fire in a crowded movie theater...

Regarding this case
Yes this is America - and that person as a citizen is allowed to believe whatever they want - as a citizen... But as an armed public servant I would hope that they willingly surrender a few rights - in a perfect world that person should have removed himself...

Pwns, I imagine we're not going to agree (ever) on this... and yes.. this is America so that's our right

- Big 10 Football - Where 117th ranked Purdue is dominant...
- Big 10 Football - Where team speed and passing offense are not required...

I think that would work much better in a church or library, theaters are too noisy, people might not hear you.
Just sayin....

Why? He hasn't broken the law. I'm not saying that obviously even our most fundamental rights should have limits, I just don't see any logical reason to fire a person for his beliefs when he hasn't done a thing wrong.

I understand exactly how you feel... BUT
he's a "PUBLIC SERVANT" we pay his salary...
As a citizen he has that right
But not as a public servant
