Phillies lose at home again, this time blowing a 5-3 lead in the 9th as the Orioles score 3 runs and win 6-5. The O's also won on Friday, so the Phils have also lost another series at home.

Get out the brooms -- another home sweep. Against the Phils. By a mediocre team.
The Phillies truly suck azz right now. When they get a well-pitched game, they don't hit. When they score runs, they get outscored. The bullpen has turned to crap. Fortunately, their entire division sucks this year. 87 wins might be enough.

Phillies beat the Rays 10-1 in Tampa. Gotta love those road games.

That's right, 86! The Phils scorched young Price last night. He looks like a 1-pitch phenom for now.
Tonight, Blanton vs. Garza.

Sad News: The Phillies have officially filed a missing persons report: Flap-at-the-gums 6 foot shortstop, slick fielder, used to show power at the plate, was a decent leadoff hitter. Known current aliases: Mario Mendoza.

Six foot shortstop?!?! You can't be referring to Rollins, then. He ain't a bit over 5'7" in high heels.bluehenbillk wrote:Sad News: The Phillies have officially filed a missing persons report: Flap-at-the-gums 6 foot shortstop, slick fielder, used to show power at the plate, was a decent leadoff hitter. Phils losing 6-4 to Rays in 6th. Baserunning boner by Feliz just cost us a run.

Re: 2009 Philadelphia Phillies Thread
Inexcusable. 1st and 3rd with 1 out, Eric Bruntlet flys out to deep center field. Matt Stairs tags at 3rd and scores easily, except Feliz ran when the ball was hit and was doubled off of 1st base. Adding insult to injury is the fact that Stairs didn't run hard going home, had he crossed the plate before Feliz was out at 1st the run would have counted.Ivytalk wrote:Phils losing 6-4 to Rays in 6th. Oh yeah, the Rays scored 3 times in the bottom of the 6th, it's now 9-4.

Team is in freefall. Mets & Marlins haven't caught back up, we've just plummeted downward.

Another uninspired, lethargic road loss, 6-1 to the Jays. Only 3 G.D. hits. We make them look like World Champions. SMFH.

Re: 2009 Philadelphia Phillies Thread
Not after those last two games... what was it a 10-2 beating followed by a come back 5-4 showing on a Chase Utley 2 run triple? Nice little weekend, still atop the NL east. Need to have a nice showing against the Bravos this week...Ivytalk wrote:Another uninspired, lethargic road loss, 6-1 to the Jays. Only 3 G.D. hits. We make them look like World Champions. SMFH.

Freakin' Madson. Freakin' suddenly porous defense. SMFH!

I think the Phil's need a few days to clear their heads and get healthy. Hopefully the All Star break will do the trick and they will have a strong second half of the season.Ivytalk wrote:Freakin' Madson. Freakin' suddenly porous defense. SMFH!

The Phils have just about hit bottom with that 11-1 loss to the Braves. Hamels bombed; Phils no-hit into the 7th.

I was thinking of dressing like a Lions fan for the game tonight... I've got good seats too, hopefully Happ can pull one out so that I don't have to wear this bag next time I show my face in Atlanta.

Have fun at the game tonight. There is no need for a Phillies fan to wear a bag in Atlanta:JMU DJ wrote:Ivytalk wrote:The Phils have just about hit bottom with that 11-1 loss to the Braves. Hamels bombed; Phils no-hit into the 7th.

No matter how bad things get tonight we're still ahead of the Braves in the standings, and we're still world champs.
Bobby Cox and all those great Braves teams from the 1990's and early 2000's won as many titles as this current Phillies team.
The way the Phillies are playing right now, they would lose to the Lions.
Re: 2009 Philadelphia Phillies Thread
I'm not at the bag stage yet, but it's just getting kind of embarrassing. This is pretty much the same team from the World Series and they are playing like this? Yeah, I'm still clinging to that and the 9-0 sweep from last year and the WS... but that will only quiet my friends down here for so long. (knocking on wood) I've never been to a phillies game in person where the phillies have lost... and that shouldn't be a jinx, I've said it out loud numerous times. I have this sinking feeling my luck may change tonight.BlueHen86 wrote:

WAKE ME UP WHEN THE PHILTHIES WIN AGAIN!!
Down 2-0 to the Braves in the 6th. And I blame JMU DJ! (Because it's more fun than blaming Manuel or Rollins or Lidge or von Fokkmeister or ...)

I blame myself... I hate Atlanta... Traffic on the way there due to accidents and then four lanes were blocked of on the way home because some Idiot didn't get over during the 3 mile period where there were signs notifying him of his exit. He decided to merge over six lanes at the last second and caused a multi car pile up in the left lanes... F-ing Georgia/Atlanta drivers....
Anyway, my seat were awesome. Right behind home plate, a free gift from a friends Dad who has corporate seats.
My Seats
Jayson Werth hesitating before getting thrown out at home plate
My fiance managed to catch this photo right as the wild pitch was thrown.
I will say one thing for Atlanta fans... they are classy. Had I been a Braves fan at Citizens Bank and the Phils had just swept the Braves, I don't think I would have lived to make it back to my car.

Most Philly fans are okay, unfortunately there are too many fans with the "Vet Stadium 700 level mentality" that think it's required to harass opposing fans.JMU DJ wrote:

Yeah, it seems to have cleaned up a little since they moved over to the bank... but I still saw some Mets fans get harassed pretty bad

Years ago I attended an Eagles playoff game against the Lions. I wore a blue ski jacket (similiar to the blue that the Lions wear), it was amazing to see all the looks I got through out the day. I didn't have any problems, but I'm sure I would have if the jacket had a Lion on it.

Phils snap a 6 game home losing streak and beat the Mets 7-2. Phils jump on Livan Hernadez for 7 runs in the first 3 innings.
Rodrigo Lopez allow 2 runs in 6.1 innings and gets the win.
