Source: "There Is Some Evidence [Sanford] Was Not Alone"
Things are still murky on the Mark Sanford story. But it's looking increasingly likely that Sanford's trip to Argentina was about more than a scenic drive down the coast.
"There is some evidence he was not alone," a source in South Carolina politics told TPMmuckraker. "The other shoe's gonna drop. I believe there's a reason he wanted to drop his SLED detail."
According to the source, a second car was identified at the Columbia airport, next to the SUV Sanford is believed to have used. Two additional sources in South Carolina politics said the same thing.
Separately, Will Folks, a former spokesman for Sanford who now runs a South Carolina political blog, is reporting that, according to a source, the Sanfords have been having problems in their marriage and have "been in marital counseling for several weeks now."

That would be a true statement.OL FU wrote:The Gville news is reporting the return of our long lost governor this morning. I am going to guess that he is going to act bemused over the uproar and say something like the governor in this state has so little authority why would anyone be concerned about a 6 day absence.
Or it could be like someone told me yesterday. Mark Sanford will say " The legislature has been telling me to take a hike for years so I finally took their advice".

Either he has another point to make or something is wrong. Unlike Dbacks emotional outburst. I do wish him the best and hopefully it is nothing to serious.

Remember - he voted to impeach Bill Clinton for lying about a blowjob when he was in the House. Guess impeachment proceedings should commence against this lying sack of shit.

I was just starting to like Sanford a little bit - he's managed to really screw the pooch recently - I wonder if Burger King is hiring, because his career as he knows it is over.

Want to rethink that?CID1990 wrote:Sometimes I have agreed with Sanford and other times I have not. All in all, I'd say he is a true fiscal conservative, based on his record. Considering the type of legistlature he has to deal with, I'm surprised he hasn't gone off ona little "sabbatical" before now. Being forced to play cards at the bailout table with full knowledge of the long term fiscal consequences has to be frustrating.
As for some folks who will say they don't like him (simply because he is a Republican and not based on any first hand knowledge of the man- that's you Bison) I would say that you should examine his record closely. He has always done what he said he would in his campaigning, to include a self-imposed term limit in the US House. He also has a clear record of fiscal restraint; something many modern day Republicans cannot claim. The guy might not share your politics, but he does have integrity.

Re: South Carolina Governor Took His Ball And Went Off To Cry
Well it is pretty disappointing.
Personally, I hope he resigns. I realize I lot of people say personal business, between he and his wife blah blah blah. I think someone with a regular job should carry on obviously. But I think elected officals are different. Elected officials that can't keep the most important vow they make to one person sure as hell can't keep it with the people that elected them.

I wonder what prompted him to admit this now. Admittedly, this has been erratic behavior, but I doubt it was an act of conscience cleaning that pushed him to do this - either the wife knew, or somebody had the goods on him IMO (but I could be wrong, again).

He said his wife knew five months ago. I assume he realized that this would be made public. That is usually what brings out one's conscience.

I think that's a good point. If someone runs for governor and says I am going to drink until I puke and screw every woman that comes in my office and you get elected then have fun.Appaholic wrote:Agree.....why you never have to worry about Governor Appa......OL FU wrote:Well it is pretty disappointing.

But you run as a family person blah blah blah well that is something you should live up to
