Also, nothing is going to come of this. Iran is a disarmed society. The Government will only let happen what they want to let happen.

C'mon folks. This is Iran. They're the NY Yankees of terrorist/hardline fundamentalist states. They try to soften us up by inviting the US wrestling team for a tournament once in awhile and playing nice with nuke inspectors, and then they get back to being world-class sand n*****s once the cameras are gone.

I agree, and traditionally the incumbent/majority party loses seats in the midterm. However with the donks having a ton more Senate seats up for election they will have to pretty much sweep everything to take the Senate.

I think the conk boat is 100% dependent on the economy. If it keeps doing well (at least relative to the laughable growth it saw under Obama) then they can bang that drum all the way into Nov and have a punchers chance at retaining their majorities.

Should be some good political entertainment in the coming 11 months.

Yup. it's 25-8 in the Senate. Most of those probably won't switch parties. But there are talks that Arizona might flip to the Democrats. With Flake resigning, McCain being in poor health (who most likely will die before the decade is out) and a state that is becoming increasingly Blue - it wouldn't surprise me if it flipped.

Overall, there are 10 Democrats running in states which Trump won by large margins - that should worry Democrats (or at least make them reevaluate their campaign strategy). There's also a special election in Minnesota - so the new Senator has a short time to make her case that she should remain in Washington.

Additionally, all 435 seats are up for grabs in the House and there will be 4 (5? i lost count) special elections to replace resigning Representatives.

I think the GOP maintains control of the both houses, but loses some seats in the HOR. They might pick up 1 or 2 in the Senate.

I agree - an economy that keeps chugging along, coupled with a much larger number of Dems up for re-election than GOP, means that a midterm election that almost always historically moves against the President's party could end up being a wash this year and not change anything. Dems have to hope the economy tanks to see substantial gains in their numbers.
