We don't need more people here (already have upwards of 330 million).
We don't need more cheap labor, already have ample.

If they're not immigrants who are highly skilled/educated/STEM, or wealthy, then we don't need them, and I can't think of a single reason to let them in/stay..

They can come legally, its the law and it needs to be enforced.

Anyone that agrees with a free flowing border should be thrown in jail for an attack on America. NOBODY has a problem with anyone coming here legally. So stop the semantics.
I don’t think we need any more people here and should further restrict immigration.

Semantic that. :coffee:

It's almost like they're in a race with Trump to the bottom. They've both been sprinting for over a year and are still neck and neck. The stamina is actually quite remarkable.

On MSNBC:
Jason Johnson, The Root:
"The president is a white supremacist. Our president is a terrorist sympathizer. Our president is a clear and present danger to nonwhite people in America. It’s that simple. There’s no reason to pretend that’s not what’s going on."

Donny Deutsch:
"I think there’s a word we have to start to use with Donald Trump in addition to all of the crazy talk. If you take Charlottesville and his blessing and love of or kinship with understanding there are nice Nazis out there, if we take his implied support of a pedophile, and now if we take this additional, very clear racist thing, he is an evil man. We don’t talk about that a lot. We talk about he’s insane, he’s crazy. That’s evil. This is just an evil, evil man."

Former press secretary for Bernie Sanders, Erika Andiola:
"A lot of this has been rooted in white supremacy since the beginning. These policies are rooted in racism."

Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-Ill.): Trump "could lead the Ku Klux Klan in the United States of America."..."somebody who could be the leader of the neo-nazis."

Stephen Colbert: "Trump reportedly said why are we having all these people from [bleep]hole countries come here. Sir, they’re not [bleep]hole countries, for one, Donald Trump isn’t their president. Am I right?"

On CNN Anna Navarro has an absolute meltdown.

1. Trump should have every meeting involving anyone outside his inner circle recorded.
2. Durbin, and/or anyone else who was at the meeting and has a problem with what Trump said, should have said something the second he said it. Running to the media is a pussy move without challenging the term right then and there.
3. Not sure of the context, but calling it a "racist" comment may be overblown. Maybe it has to do with education or economic skills.
4. Immigration is important. Population growth is important to the economy of any city, state, Palouse, or country.
5. Donnie Douche and Simone Sanders are fucking assclowns.

You're correct and I wouldn't have a problem with taking in the good and valuable. But we don't always take the good and valuable people. We have a freaking lottery to determine who comes. How does that help us?

I don't care if they're skilled or not; if someone wants to uproot their lives, make the trek here, and make an attempt to build a better life...then I say go for it. This nation is essentially a continent; it can handle way more than 320 million people (estimates say the United States could realistically handle up to 2.5 billion).

And in my anecdotal evidence, I've noticed immigrants are way more hard-working than native born Americans. They don't bitch about first-world problems and in general, just get **** done.

We should limit the amount of immigrants that come in, but generally I agree with your sentiment. Immigration should be merit based, not this lottery bull shit (in some cases at least).

Also have not problem with Trumps shithole comment...after all these people are coming here because their country is more than likely a complete shithole.

And love how the msm continues to meltdown over any Trump comment.

I think you (among others) are missing the larger fundamental point. It's not about calling some nations a "shithole" because the brutal truth is that they are. It's his insinuation that these people shouldn't be reaching for what America has to offer, don't deserve to try, and that America shouldn't attempt to extend help - to be the beacon of hope and light for the world's pressed and downtrodden that we've always been.

The problem isn't that he called those countries shitholes, it's that he's inferring that the people are shit.

I don't take it that way at all. I take it as he wants to bring in the best and brightest and not just be about handouts to the down trodden. We can help a lot of these people in their own country (speaking specifically of Haiti here and any country dealing with natural disasters).

Haiti was a shithole before.

Let’s send billions in aid for decades to corrupt nations that lack the ability or desire from a power dynamic to affect positive change and just have them all move here then. It would probably cost less in the long run but then we’d also have to look at all these shitholians among us.

Mostly agree.
In 1965 the US went from a merit based system based on what's good for America, to a chain based system based on what's good for immigrants with family reunification.

We need to:
-End chain migration & go back to a merit based, with highly educated & highly skilled in areas we need to the front of the line.
-End the lottery system.
-Quit taking in large #s of refugees. There are armed conflicts around the world now involving dozens of countries & a good chunk of the world's 7.6 billion people. Sad, but that's always going to be the case.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_o ... _conflicts
Not our job to take in large #of refugees from around the world every year.

Trump has already signaled an end to TPS. The "T" stands for "Temporary". Its not FPS as in "forever" or PPS as in "permanent".

Yes, it can handle way more than the 327 million est it is now.. But think about the unimaginable strain on natural resources and the environment of 2.5 billion people in the US. Take what we currently consume (food, energy, nat resources, etc) and multiply it by a factor of 7 or 8. Think about what it would do to open spaces (there's always going to be a large chunk of the population that doesn't want to live in dense, urban aeas)..

Heck, the idea of 1 billion people in the US is fooking nuts...

Taken in context Clinton's "deplorables" comment was spot on. She started off by saying that, yes, a lot of Trump supporters were in that category but went on to say that a lot of other ones were motivated by understandable concerns. And I think she was right.

phpBB [video]

The point of what she was saying is that, yes, it's a given that there is this core of nasty people supporting Trump but there area also a lot of people who have legitimate concerns. And I think that 2016 election season did tell us that there IS a block in the Republican base composed of hateful, ignorant people. Deplorable people. It is what it is. Her description of the situation was accurate.

I've seen it. It's an echo chamber thing. Trying to put some kind of positive spin on a really stupid action by Trump and, yes, Trump zombies will buy it. But overall it's a negative. This episode did not help the Republican and/or conservative cause. Trump is an idiot.
