Amtrak Carrying GOP to WV Retreat Hits Truck

Post by 93henfan »

Man, those are going to be some great memes.

Driver of truck is dead. Only bumps and bruises among train riders.

The encouraging thing about all of this from my perspective is that I am now guaranteed pay for any shutdown through Sep 30th, there’s another shutdown imminent next week, and these yahoos are off to party in the mountains (MT translation: hills).

When they get back, the Dems have a similar retreat in Cambridge MD set up. So, Congress has three working days to avoid the next shutdown. https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics ... n-calendar

Were headed to the Greenbriar. The Greenbriar, in the most pro Trump state (68.6% in election) is one high falutin place, at least by WV standards.

It also had some pretty secretive bunkers, meeting spaces, and living quarters during the Cold War. You know, all the shit that’s now under the Denver Airport.

Our company annual meeting has been at the Greenbrier the last two years. It's actually scheduled for next week, but different location this year. GB is a pretty cool place, but it looks like Laura Ashley threw up everywhere.

Minutes after the train slammed into the dump truck on Wednesday morning, Kansas GOP Rep. Roger Marshall tweeted that he was OK but was delivering first aid to victims.

“We are on our way to our annual GOP retreat, the train carrying members and spouses hit something. … I am helping those that are injured,” the physician tweeted.

Marshall, along with another doctor-lawmaker, Tennessee Rep. Phil Roe, went on to perform CPR on the driver of the garbage truck, Marshall's office said.

You wouldn’t know a metaphor if it kicked you in the snatch.

Tweeting while giving CPR. That is some serious multitasking right there.

While I don't agree with many GOP policies, i'm glad the casualties and injuries were minimal - considering how tragic this could have ended.

Spandos hard at work.

http://www.businessinsider.com/gop-amtr ... ory-2018-1
Some of the conspiracy theories claimed the train incident was perpetrated by so-called "deep-state" actors — a term used by fringe right-wing groups to describe rogue government employees who secretly attempt to manipulate US policy.

"If you think that that truck just stalled there by itself, and somebody didn't kill that guy and park it up there on the tracks, that's how they like to do it," InfoWars host Alex Jones said on Wednesday. "It's a classic CIA tactic too."

"You'll kill somebody, have them in the car, and remote control it into the next vehicle. That is the standard assassination tool right now," Jones continued. "This is standard dump truck ... that is CIA playbook 100%."

What policies do you not agree with?
Gay marriage, bathroom laws, marijuana, immigration - mostly their social issues. They want to be party of limited government - but can't stop themselves from trying to legislate morality or interject themselves into peoples private lives.

And i'm not saying the Democrats are better. They aren't. Both parties are equally awful.

These "dreamers" are here, let's not make their lives more difficult. Let's be smart - give them a path to citizenship, let them come out of the shadows and pay taxes.
I see potential problems with #1 and isn't #2 what was offered but the Libs are turning down?

Well the good thing for you is that the Trump administration is not "worsening" the situation on any of these....yet.

I think so, but historically that hasn't been the GOPs position on immigration.

And for the bathrooms - it's a ridiculous issue, completely unenforceable and a waste of money.

I truly don't understand why marijuana hasn't been legalized yet. I can kill myself on Big Macs, Jack Daniels and Pall Malls but heaven forbid I smoke a joint.
