Eagles fans flock to downtown Minneapolis gay bar to catch the Super Bowl

Eagles fans in town but without Super Bowl tickets found the perfect venue to catch their team's victory over the Patriots: The Eagle Bolt Bar in downtown Minneapolis.

The venue on Washington Avenue South welcomed an influx of Philly fans, some of whom were enticed by the bar's name, thinking it was a bar for Eagles fans.

In reality, it's a gay bar, prompting some amused reactions among Minneapolitans.

There are a number of "Eagle" gay bars across the country - all cater to the Leather and Bear crowd. And the basement of this bar (been there once), well, it gets steamy down there.

And the issue is??? Are there no gay Eagles fans? Are the straight Eagles fans supposed to avoid places where gays are? Heck, there's a section of Philly fondly called the "Gayborhood" that sits just off of Broad St and is a great spot for tons of restaurants and nightlife, and amazingly enough, gays and non-gays alike get along just fine there. Glad to hear the place thought that Eagles fans were great and didn't just rely on some exaggerated opinions of disgruntled Vikings fans.

It is just funny - the bar (like every gay bar I know) welcomed their dollars with open arms. It is more funny given the clientele (and jock-strap wearing contest they held).

And just like philly, quite a few greased poles there.
