Exactly. People are slamming the FBI for even having been told about this guy. Imagine the outrage if they "interviewed" him and he still did this. My guess is the FBI is told about thousands of people every month or year.

Yep. It’s easy to criticize but we don’t know if the FBI followed up, spoke with this guy and felt like he wasn’t a threat. Maybe this guy is a psychopath and told the FBI what they wanted to hear , etc..... I’ll not admonish the FBI until all the facts are in.

We're really not far off from agreeing on this stuff, but on what grounds can you detain somebody? If I made a clear and finite threat against somebody that appeared credible... maybe. But can you really detain somebody because they say they are going to become famous for being a school shooter?

The word is right now that the FBI couldn't find this guy - the guy they talked to is the one who raised the alarm after seeing the post. The FBI was unable to track this nutball electronically. I've been lied to in movies about how good our electronic surveillance is.

Heard Sen Nelson (D, FL) being interviewed on FNC today. He was asked about about armed sec in schools & dealing with the mentally ill. He ignored that, prefaced claiming he grew up on a ranch and still hunted, then went straight to we need to ban the AR-15 and how the shooter used an ‘automatic’ weapon....Hey Senator Dumbass, just listen to the audio and tell me if that’s an ‘automatic’ weapon..

Based on my experience, in working in cyber security and the years I spent working in ISR with the Navy and DHS, I call bullshit on the excuse that they couldn't find him. He had a digital history. Unless this killer was a genius - he certainly left digital fingerprints.

How about instead of rounding them up and creating another welfare state. We help them. Sure - if someone is a danger to society let's do something. But understanding the early signs of a mental illness and treating it can be a better use of our time. There are Bi-polar, depressed, even psychopathic people whom manage their illness and are no threat.

Yup, now seeing on multiple sites that apparently the username for the person who posted the threat on YouTube was "Nikolas Cruz". Apparently, the FBI wasn't able to connect that username with the person by the name of Nikolas Cruz, a kid who was expelled from a Florida school for multiple threats of violence, weapons, etc. Just not enough information for the vaunted FBI.

How about the ability of law enforcement to stop someone like this that exhibited multiple warning signs beforehand?

The police chief was asked this question...he said with current law, he can visit and talk to a person, but unless they say something threatening, unless they break the law, there is little the police can do without a change in law

Federal law has 18 years old as the minimum age to buy a long Gun . Since no one has put any negative information into the National Instant Check System (NICS), his background check apparently came back clean

Why ask about the AR-15? There are weapons that have never made any ban list that are as deadly or deadlier than the AR-15...
