2018 PyeongChang Games are the least-watched Olympics ever
http://awfulannouncing.com/olympics/201 ... -ever.htmlNBC is spinning the 2018 Winter Olympics as the most dominant ever in primetime, but when you look inside the numbers, they show these Olympics as the least-watched Games in U.S. television history. Despite plenty of live figure skating and alpine skiing, NBC’s primetime coverage averaged a 10.1 rating and 17.8 million viewers.
Sports Media Watch notes that’s off 17% in ratings and 16% in viewership as compared to the Sochi Olympics (12.2 rating/21.3 million), which were completely tape-delayed in primetime.

We watched every night and on weekend. Great Olympics, IMO.

I really do not care who wins. It is all about the skill/show for me, and for that this was a good Olympics.Gil Dobie wrote: Proves USA is a bunch of band wagon jumpers. IF the USA isn't dominating, they don't watch.

Honorable mention goes to the wardrobe malfunction. Only reason I turned in to watch that segment of the figure skating.

Re: 2018 Winter Olympics?
The Olympics were aired on NBC, NBC Sports, CNBC and USA Network. I'm thinking most people only tuned into what they showed on NBC which was a lot of figure skating and ice dancing. I didn't watch a minute of that.Gil Dobie wrote:Proves USA is a bunch of band wagon jumpers. Also, showing events live during the day and tape delay at night really kills ratings. Even if you don't watch it during the day, the interwebs reveal the results before you have a chance to watch the primetime broadcasts.
Why can't everyone be on Eastern Superior Time?

I watched a bunch, but it seemed like there was an inordinate amount of snowboarding, curling, and figure skating. I did not see a single minute of ski jumping (something I actually like to watch in doses). I saw very little big track speed skating. Didn't see much men's bobsled.Gil Dobie wrote:Proves USA is a bunch of band wagon jumpers. You're right. It was overloaded on certain sports. There was some ski jumping one morning that I remember but there was too much of the same on too few channels.89Hen wrote:I watched a bunch, but it seemed like there was an inordinate amount of snowboarding, curling, and figure skating. In defense, I think there are less than half the events of summer. They also aren't doing themselves a favor by keeping Johnny Weird around. It's hard enough for men to stomach figure skating, but it can be done to placate the wife. However, he makes it damn near impossible.Ibanez wrote:You're right. It was overloaded on certain sports. Johnny Weir, for all his theatrics, is a pretty decent commentator and frankly, the under-60 crowd actually likes the Weir/Lipinsky grouping. Let's be honest, it's figure skating - that schtick works in figure skating.89Hen wrote:In defense, I think there are less than half the events of summer. Personally I was too busy staring at Tara's DSLs and hoping she would uncross her legs to really notice Johnny. Not that I watched figure skating.

Exactly. Can't we pair Tara with Lipinski? THAT would be something worth watching...Grizalltheway wrote:Personally I was too busy staring at Tara's DSLs and hoping she would uncross her legs to really notice Johnny. Not that I watched figure skating.
