I know this is the sort of thing that is kind of bland. We always hear that deficit spending will eventually get us into real trouble but so far no REAL trouble so it's easy to wonder if it's really a problem. But just for informational purposes:

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nati ... story.html

At the very least it's not real consistent with the proclaimed Republican philosophy.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?

Is Michelle Wolf considered funny? :?

I'm pretty sure there's people on this board that could have written funnier lines than that, especially for the most mockable POTUS ever.

I think the statement about most normal people not paying attention applies to just about any period in our history. But I don't think the anti trump sentiment is just background noise. An awful lot of people, I think, view this situation as abnormal and unacceptable. And Trump continues to be very unpopular. As of this post he is at 55.1% favorable vs. 39.1% unfavorable in the RCP average. This is not a normal situation. We still have a mentally ill, totally unqualified person in a very important position.
And he was that way when he was voted into office. If people are just going to be "anti-Trump" when it comes to elections there's a chance he could win again in 2020. The opposition has to have something other than "not Trump" for voters to vote for.

SEOUL (AFP) - South Korean President Moon Jae In on Monday (April 30) played down the prospect of winning the Nobel Peace Prize for his historic summit with North Korea's leader Kim Jong Un, saying Mr Donald Trump can have it instead.

Probably will never happen (because the NPP is a political prize) but if Trump were to actually win I would laugh myself into a coma.

If Obama could win it simply by winning an election then Trump should surely be a shoe-in for the award.

The U.S. Just Borrowed $488 Billion, a Record High for the First Quarter

U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said he’s unconcerned about the bond market’s ability to absorb rising government debt after his department said it borrowed a record amount for the first quarter.

“It’s a very large, robust market -- it’s the most liquid market in the world, and there is a lot of supply,” he said in a Bloomberg TV interview on Monday. “But I think the market can easily handle it.”

Earlier on Monday the Treasury said net borrowing totaled $488 billion from January through March, a record for that period and about $47 billion more than it had previously estimated, according to a statement released in Washington. The end-of-March cash balance was $290 billion, compared with an initial estimate of $210 billion.

“By definition supply and demand will equate,” Mnuchin said. “I’m not concerned about that. I think that there are still a lot of buyers for U.S. Treasuries,” he said when asked about the risks of reduced demand for Treasuries and increased supply.

That particular trend started a LONG time prior to Obama. And it's generally believed to be a "negative" trend. Not a good thing. Sometimes I wonder because people keep saying it's leading to disaster and so far no disaster.

The big thing is that Republicans always say how bad it is when they're not in power then when they get in power they do it too.

Everything that is revolting about the D.C. press corps was on display in this incident. On the one hand, who cares – it's just a party, ? On the other hand, why are we partying with the people we're supposed to be covering?

The reason is that a significant portion of the national press corps genuinely gets off on the experience of being close to power. They love going to fancy restaurants and being whispered to by a Senatorial aide or, better yet, an actual Senator. Even more titillating is being handed a packet of secrets by someone at the CIA, the FBI, the Pentagon!

This is why so many journalists circle the wagons when someone dares to interrupt their public love sessions with the people who misuse our tax money, bomb innocent civilians, lie to us, give get-out-of-jail free cards to white collar criminals, etc.

When Dr. Harold Bornstein described in hyperbolic prose then-candidate Donald Trump's health in 2015, the language he used was eerily similar to the style preferred by his patient.

It turns out the patient himself wrote it, according to Bornstein.
"He dictated that whole letter. I didn't write that letter," Bornstein told CNN on Tuesday. "I just made it up as I went along."
https://www.cnn.com/2018/05/01/politics ... index.html

I'm pretty sure we all knew Trump wrote it.
