With the permanent lines down, it’s wider than it was this time last week, but still snug.
To get everyone to speed, this is a small bridge over the Severn River a couple miles before the big bridge. It's been a chronic choke point for traffic headed to the beach. It was three lanes in each direction with a thin jersey wall divider and barely any shoulders. They added a lane without adding any space. 12' lanes became 11' and now there are zero shoulders. I'm skeptical even with 93's experience this week. Just wait until the Virginia drivers start coming. :ohno:

89, I gotta say I'm still feeling really good about this improvement. I'm not saying it won't still reach a tipping point on beach Fridays, but it should still be an improvement in flow even then.

This afternoon I passed through at about 4pm. Traffic volume in general was heavier than yesterday because people are already heading to the beach early with the 90 degree temps. Still, the typical Severn choke point was completely clear. I snapped two pics. Traffic was flowing ~65 mph in both. First is Rowe Blvd/Navy Stadium; second is the approach to the bridge. These would all usually be a 5-10 mph jam at that same time:

New bay bridge span in the works. If they are going to build a new one, why not do two. You know, just for fuck sake.$20 toll to the Shit House of the State!

They're moving the tollbooths to the west-bound side?

If they want to tax going the shit house, they should put the tolls as you enter North 97. 8-)

This love fest between 89 and 93 has nothing to do about the place where horseshoe crabs go to mate...and die.
