This has bad idea written all over it. Anybody want to take a guess on how quickly this gets repealed?

Gotta disagree with you on this one...criminals without a CCP are already carrying weapons, and consuming alcohol at the same time (statistical odds, not a definite known on my part)...and folks who go through the effort to obtain a CCP statistically are law-abiding and would not drink if in such an establishment while carrying... :twocents:

While I agree with your premise, I still think it is a bad idea.

Same idiot lawmakers are also pushing to eliminate the CCP, allowing anyone to carry a concealed weapon with no permit or training.

While I don't disagree that the CCP process tends to include more law abiding citizens, most people go to a bar to drink, CCP holders included. I won't get into the argument about who should and shouldn't have guns, but I think this is inviting a statistically higher likelihood for a violent altercation. A fistfight in a parking lot is one thing, it's quite another when one or both pull a weapon.

This should help facilitate D1B's desire for population control......

I have been admonished to keep my weapon concealed at all times in public, and especially in bars.

I think its a bad idea. The cases where guns are used in nightclubs or bars is from fights involving people who carry weapons without a license. If you upped the number of guns and drunk people, statistically you up the number of booze fueled shootings. Maybe bouncers or security at bars could have guns, but not everyone.

Many people have short tempers when they drink.

When I lived in Alaska the first thing you saw when you walked into the Howling Dog Saloon was a big sign that said Check Guns and Knives at Bar.

Bad, bad idea.

Even off duty cops in most jurisdictions aren't allowed to carry when they are patronizing establishments where alcohol is the chief item of sale. If I were a club owner I would ban concealed weapons on my property.

Personally, with my libertarian leanings, I believe this is how it should be dealt with....don't outlaw, but allow the club owners to make the call....use it as a marketing ploy....if people aren't comfortable patronizing an establishment which allows CC, then the club won't make it....feel the same way about cigarettes as well...

True - anyone should be able to conceal cigarettes in a bar. Using them, like a gun, is the issue.

So you equate 2nd hand smoke with gunshot wound? But a good rebuttal nonetheless........

Actually no - alcohol in excess is bad. Moderate amounts can actually be healthy for you.

So the clubs are serving healthy amounts and not to excess?

Not the ones we frequent.

Each serving is a healthy amount.

I can drink, and you can sit next to me, and be unaffected. Same can't be said for cigarettes or guns :coffee:

That's not what you said in the past. What if he drinks a 6 pack?
