I can't even see myself leaving Louisiana because that's where I like living. MAYBE I could be convinced to move to St. Simons Island Georgia because I like it there. But I have NO desire to move to another country.

Of course I am not in economic distress. I'm not rich but I make a six figure salary and could retire right now if necessary. Louisiana is a low cost of living State too so no issue there. The fishing in Louisiana is as good as it gets. It's got the culture I grew up in and am comfortable in. I've got my grandkids a couple of miles down the road. There is no reason for me to want to move anywhere.

Those are all great reasons to stay in Louisiana - seriously.

Have you ever been to another country? Aside from Mexico and Canada, I don't see you driving to the Central America.

No I have not. It's interesting because I've had plenty of opportunity to. There are 14 people in the country who do the job I do and each of us is responsible for covering a number of States. But, typically, someone in my position also does international work. Everyone else has done it but I haven't.

I almost went to do work in Canada once. Got my passport and everything. Then I decided not to go. That was no problem because there is always someone else who wants to do it. As soon as I opted out someone else opted in. The only assignment I think about that maybe I might have wanted to do is New Zealand.

Many years ago I asked if I absolutely HAD to do international work. I was basically told that it might hurt my career some if I didn't but, no, I didn't have to if I really didn't want to.

It's interesting because I am the one who has done what I do the longest. I'm also the best by far at certain things like analytical design and data analysis. But I made a decision that I'm not going to do international work so it is what it is. And I'm comfortable with the decision.

Yes I heard people on conservative talk radio today thinking they REALLY have something there.

But as far as I can tell they don't. As far as I can tell the entity that broke the story that the girl was never separated from her mother is the Washington Post. Then a bunch of other mainstream media entities picked it up. The mainstream media checked each other.

The mainstream media do strive for truth. They check things out. They check each other. They have rules and standards. That's why you know that the girl in the photo was not separated from her parents.

The basic story remains. The Trump Administration established a zero tolerance policy that resulted in an increase in the rate of children being separated from their parents. Then instead of owning it and doing something like making arguments for why it is necessary even if there are some unpleasant consequences, they lied to everyone and said they had no choice in the matter. They said they were required by law to do exactly what they were doing. Finally, when the optics became just too bad, Trump demonstrated that he was lying when he said that he had no other option. But we already knew, or should have already known, that they were lying when they were trying to sell the idea that the law required them to do what they were doing.

The problem with that for me is that, while I don't know about the New York Times, I watched CNN and know that they did put Trump's "Animals" comment into the context of his reference to MS-13. So to me he's kind of setting up a false premise at least with respect to CNN.

CNN didn't correct the narrative until two days after it happened. Initially, Don Lemon, the silver-haired fag and their guests promoted the false narrative that Trump referred to all brown folks as animals.

Well, typically when I'm able to, I watch CNN from 5 am through 6 am CDT. And I don't recall ever not knowing through watching that the comment was made in the context of a question about MS-13.

Obviously the guy we're talking about is not a conservative so I don't know what's going on with him. But one thing I've noticed in listening to conservative radio talk show hosts and such is that they frequently say that mainstream media "don't tell you" things when I know that's false because I've been actually watching, reading, and listening to mainstream media. Rush Limbaugh is particularly bad about that.
