Well, given the nuclear option is in force, and with the GOP in control of the Senate, Trump will get whomever he nominates (assuming he doesn't go all Dubya and throws out a Harriet Miers or something). Odds are he stays with the list he first put out and then modified in 2017. Plenty of judges on that list who were the same age or younger than Gorsuch, so there will be some lasting impression from Trump winning in 2016. Dems have to be kicking themselves to have blown that election.

Wow. Didn't really expect that he actually would retire this year. My guess is Trump will nominate a lady, there are a couple of interesting ones on the list he put out last year.

There goes a centrist. Too bad we won't get someone like him as a replacement.

Kennedy has always said he wanted to be replaced by a Republican president. Kudos to him for retiring now to make sure that happens.

This will push the leftists that were still teetering on the cliff completely over the edge. Better increase security for all the conservative justices.

Dems gonna go apeshit over whomever Trump nominates. Just go ahead and get ready for Judge _________ is a facist, sexist, racist, homophobe, islamaphobe, xenophobe, anti environment, anti choice, pro NRA, etc, etc, etc whose confirmation would lead to the death of America..

 And unlike Gorsuch, the leftists like Dback can't (but will) bitch about it being a "stolen seat."

Good. We’ll hopefully get a relatively young, originalist conservative, which Kennedy certainly was not.

Are you kidding me? Kennedy was a good, conservative jurist.

I'm guessing his role in upholding Roe v Wade and allowing the gays to marry doesn't sit well with you.

Hopefully when the left takes over, they'll add more seats to the SCOTUS and stack it to the left.

Everything just takes a majority vote now, right?

Just what makes you think the left is taking over anytime soon? Hopefully not in my lifetime because when it happens we will be the United States of Venezuela.

Time to throw out the Constitution. It certainly isn't working anymore for the majority of Americans.

The nation continues to progress while the government is regressing. And in the meanwhile, the world continues to leave us behind socially, environmentally, and economically.

Oh, help me Rhonda. The world isn't leaving us behind. They're still coming to us for all their food and military needs.

And money.

Listen, I think Trump is a buffoon and a jack ass - I haven't waivered from that position. But he is not ushering in the end of the Republic. The moment he does, i'll be the first to join the march against him. So far, as I see it, The Congress and even Gorsuch have shown that he can't get everything he wants.

You're screaming progress and yet you're proposing that we return to the 1930's by attempting to pack the court. The Constitution is working exactly like it was designed. Blithering idiots.... :dunce:

Mexico/Latin America aren't the nations leaving America behind.

It's ok though, once in a while a great generation of Americans actually has to fix the issues the previous one left behind. And yours really fucked up.

I hope ours does, but I won't get my hopes up. The millennial right are religious nutjobs who want to regulate who can use the bathroom and who you can love and the millennial left are socialists who want to regulate your speech and solve inequality with more inequality. :twocents: :coffee:

Any guesses on who he nominates?

Don Willett would be a interesting choice since he is an avid twitter user. And which Twitter couldn't ask for better advertising than a dual between the President and the Supreme Court.

I don't run; I want to actively change the country I love.

You can keep comparing America to 3rd world nations though.
