Would you feel better if I used Jon Stewart’s “radical middle” instead?Chizzang wrote:kalm wrote:

Agree, it is too easy now, do not even have to go to polling place.Pwns wrote:Im telling you guys, the right to vote needs to be earned. Pass a middle-school-level civic literacy test at the poll or "pow!" your ballot doesn't count.

Why should you have to go to a polling place?css75 wrote:Agree, it is too easy now, do not even have to go to polling place.Pwns wrote:Im telling you guys, the right to vote needs to be earned. Pass a middle-school-level civic literacy test at the poll or "pow!" your ballot doesn't count.

To have to make an actual effort, I only want those who really want to vote, and also have them make an informed vote.kalm wrote:Why should you have to go to a polling place?css75 wrote:

As much as I hate that the ignorant masses have the same vote I do (actually most count MORE because I live in a state/county that will never go Red (except apparently for Gov)), I'm not sure that's how the FF's intended our system to work. I'm only spitballing but my guess is a vast majority of the electorate in the 18th Century couldn't pass a middle school civic literacy test, hell, many couldn't probably even read.Pwns wrote:Im telling you guys, the right to vote needs to be earned. If you went by state rank of educational achievement level the electoral map might change a just a bit.89Hen wrote:As much as I hate that the ignorant masses have the same vote I do (actually most count MORE because I live in a state/county that will never go Red (except apparently for Gov)), I'm not sure that's how the FF's intended our system to work. No doubt. But at the same time, some newly nominated individuals might not have been eligible for office.kalm wrote:If you went by state rank of educational achievement level the electoral map might change a just a bit.89Hen wrote: As much as I hate that the ignorant masses have the same vote I do (actually most count MORE because I live in a state/county that will never go Red (except apparently for Gov)), I'm not sure that's how the FF's intended our system to work.
