But let me guess, my dad should have not worked those extra hours "pillaging the wealth" to keep our family afloat, or just said "**** it" and just started racking up credit card debt.

I really don't think you understand the plight of poor Americans nowadays. I volunteer at homeless shelters every other Monday; people are working full-time to support themselves or their families, but are so underpaid that they can’t get by without relying on government assistance.

People who are work their way up a good job can deny themselves and the payoff is worth it. When you're working 40-60 hours and barely making ends meet, and then being asked to work some more for welfare...with little to no possibility of moving up...what's the point of denying all life experiences for that?

Growing up, we regularly worked 12 to 14 hours per day on the farm, 6 days a week, 7 during harvest. Let's see, that's 72 to 86 hours per week or more. I don't miss farming or those hours. Both parents worked to pay the bills, dad had a second job selling seed. It wasn't easy to make a living then, it wasn't during my generation, why shoud the millennials get the silver spoons? There's a lot of homes out there for under $20,000, if you don't mind the stigma of a trailer home, it's a roof. We lived in a lot of dumps growing up. One house, my parents used the living room for their bedroom, dining room was our living room and the kids had a bedroom. Better than my grandparents. Grandpa had 6 boys in one bedroom and 4 girls in the other, on their Minnesota farm. They managed just fine, and some great stories of growing up, working odd jobs, even working and not getting paid, saving money when they could.

Having children is a choice and an expensive one. If you can't afford them then you shouldn't have then. Condoms are cheaper.

The government should be focused on defense and infrastructure. A basic, limited safety net is fine. The betterment of people is a noble goal but the government should provide the opportunity for betterment (education and daycare) and it shod be the individual's responsibility to take advantage of it.

You complain about corporate greed which is a problem but ignore the inefficiency and waste inherent in government programs. Who is responsible for the housing conditions that the urban poor live in? Is it all the fault of greedy landlords (and 1%'s like Chizzy with multiple homes ) or does the local government bureaucracy also play a significant role in the problem? Why are our healthcare costs so high? Is it all the corporations fault? Or do government regulations play a significant role in increasing costs?

Will making the government bigger and more responsible for more parts of our lives make our lives better? Or will there be patronage hires and unnecessary regulations that increase costs and stifle initiative

But there's great groundwork being done all across the nation and that's more important for a political party. Ultimately the best work is done neighbor-to-neighbor, not through television ads or PACs.

Frankly, President Trump has been better at unifying the DNC than any Democrat "leader." They should make him an honorary member.
