Pilots need stick time. It's required to maintain proficiency. Every single flyover counts as stick time.

People need to get the fuck over it. Unless they want the first time somebody climbs into the cockpit to be when the Ruskies are parachuting in on Colorado.

I know the fly overs in the Charleston area, that come from Joint Base Charleston, tend to coincide with a training mission or a units relocation.

Of course it's a training mission.

My cousin at MCAS Beaufort used to maintain the sign-up list in his squadron for "weekend training flights" over Death Valley and Williams Brice

Any time you crank up a plane it's training

And it's voluntary - which means if you don't sign up, you don't get this "necessary" training
