SG, why do you let Chizzy's comments about religion bug you? You believe, he doesn't (quite). Your religion is based on faith not facts so logical arguments don't really work.
It's not that he bugs me, as much as he spews nonsense. I need information to understand what you are saying.

He doesn't ever take a stand, so you need to cajole it out of him.

Essentially, he is a target rich punching bag, but I do understand what you are saying.

Nope. I don't believe in any of that. I'm just a guy that grew up a devout Catholic (almost went into the priesthood to be honest), graduated from the Catholic school system, studied enough religion and philosophy in college to realize that it's all made up and we don't know anything.
Funny that you continually attack at me as if you are a professing Christian?

I also was raised a Christian, born again baptised in the name of Jesus. .. that was great ... until I found out that the name above all names started as Yeshua 2000 years ago and thru the ongoing evolution of the Christian faith, that also was changed about 500 years ago to Jesus?

That is a deal breaker

My beliefs now are my own and I will keep them as my own?

We are exchanging views about what the bible says vs what we want it to say .. lol

I acknowledge the biblical connection between Ishmael and Jacob. ... but Muhammed is another story entirely, for he is not Ishmael.

My point is that even though all 3 have ties of sorts, or so they believe, to the God of the Israelites .... if you examine their belief system and their bibles and their need to dominate each other (world conquest) thru killing if necessary, they are light years from each other. Except for their arrogance ... lol

And to clear the record ... christians are not trying to hijack my religion, I am no more an Israelite than anyone else, just sharing what the bible says, not what we want it to say.

Born again and now you’re what exactly? I’m trying to understand where you are - is it a fringe religion that’s diluted/ distorted the original intent and message? That’s not an attack, it’s an educated guess. I hold Mormons in the same regard.

What exactly does my level of practice matter as long as I speak knowledgeably on a subject?

And I’m not attacking you, snowflake. I’m pointing out that you are willfully ignoring Church history. You have a biased view, not surprising and totally understood.

At this time, I am not attached with a western, or eastern denomination or any other church for that matter. I study the Tanakh (old testament) trying to learn/understand it the way it WAS written and not the way OUR churches have twisted it.

Christians primarily declare old testament obsolete when it suits their purposes, and for good reason, because you can not buy into that stuff if you know the truth.

I am searching for all of truth. Words have meaning and the only people that distort the truth are denominations that do things forbidden in the OT, inventing a new faith based on things that are forbidden in this original OT book.

2000 years ago ALL that existed was the OT, when the Messiah walked the earth there was NO NEW TESTAMENT YET, and there was no Koran either, so we should at least understand the original book? When he said "have you not read" or "it is written"
He was pointing to the TANAKH. The book of Deuteronomy, which is the 5th Book of the Torah (Law). It states that you can't add to or take away from the Law (5 books of Moses) and verse 13 (i believe) says to stone anyone who tries to change ANYTHING in those 5 books ... priests or Mommy or anyone.

No reasonable person can say that the God who never changes .... changed ... but yet never changes ...lol

As for your faith, it is your business, but because you almost became a priest does not make you an authority of truth, just knowledgeable about your church, right or wrong.

I AM willfully ignoring Church history, because it is not compatable with the words of the God in the OT. my view is biased by what scripture says my friend.

I was VERY HAPPY as a born again baptised Christian ... learning the truth has been a hard path ... but it is what it is.

Ah got it. You are studied some fringe scripture interpretation and are ignoring historical facts. We can’t have a serious discussion if you willfully ignore the facts. It’s those facts that will help you in your study and understanding. It’s also those facts that’ll help you understand the religions you aren’t studying.

Lol

Western theology is based on integrated Roman mythology, they almost all give their loyalty to the Council of Nicea.

I am amazed that there are over 30,000 western denominations whose scripture are all based on the same book ... lol

The Roman Universal Church is with out a doubt the center of the western Christian faith.

I am not interested in the western Christian paganized faith, there was never a Christos. If you believe in that bologna then that is your business I guess.

:suspicious: What the hell are you talking about? Christianity and Judaism are Middle Eastern and have become the dominant religions in the West. I'm not sure you can call them "western" theologies though. Sushi is popular in the America though I wouldn't call it a western delicacy. I don't see how the absorption of pagan myths and rituals makes them "western."

Also, the Council of Nicea isn't a standing council of people. Nobody is giving loyalty to a meeting which occurred almost 1700 years ago. It's quite clear you don't know what the hell you're talking about.

It's painfully obvious that you have no idea what you're talking about.

Judaism and Islam are eastern religions

Roman universalism is most definately western.

You say your not active with your Roman Universal Church but your posts suggest otherwise.

The adoption of pagan rituals makes it Pagan, the fact that it was at one time, and still is, part of the Roman Empire makes it western.

The Council of Nicea (which you know) is the Council of the Roman Emperor Constantine, and is what started the paganization of Judaism with other nonsense religions.
The Nicene Creed is a statement of faith originated by the Roman Church but is widely used by most Christian churches, Even though they believe they are not a part of the Roman Church .... smh

Why you waste both of out time with this bologna is beyond me, let the Christians speak for them selves.

The Nicene Creed is the one ring which binds them .... lol

The Nicene Creed is the one ring which binds them .... lol

Lol

What you lack in knowledge, you make up for in tanacity.

I'm no psychologist, however, it would be interesting to understand what compels you to pursue this need to call people names?

I would guess that it is akin to the"little man syndrome".

An inner need to find a sense of acceptance or justification at the expense of others?

Of course providing that they value your opinion maybe, which of course, I do not.

Oh well. ..

I think I called you 1 name. And if that hurts your feelings, then GTFO. Seriously, you've gone from defending your faith to trying to make me feel bad or embarrass me b/c I called you Beelz. Stick to your faith in the face of adversity...I think a Jew said something about turning the other cheek.

However, your guesses are wrong. Your lack of history and context is misleading and you're doing yourself no favors by not taking into consideration the education and experience of others. Are you afraid that someone might say something that will cause you to rethink your choices? You SHOULD be questioning everything. Especially when the "authors" aren't around anymore and there's no one around to corroborate their story. It's because of my education and experience that I'm agnostic.

But, given that you've gone through at least 2 (maybe more?) religions, I would hazard a guess and say you are searching for some meaning or truth. I honestly hope you find it, but ignoring the historical truths, contexts, etc... behind the religions won't get you there any sooner.

It's like watching the news. If all you watch is Fox News, you'll have a distorted view. You need to read something from all sides, get all possible points of view. :twocents: If you're looking for eternal salvation, you owe yourself that much.

Good Luck

Nah, more like a fizzle. He sounds like an "evangelical Jew-ish" person that can't accept a difference of opinion out there AND admittedly won't look at historical fact in his pursuits. You can't tell anyone like that anything.

Things like him saying the Abrahamic God of Jews, Christians and Muslims is flat out, 100% wrong. He's conflating it with the interpretation and practice of those religions.
