Within 3 years after being nominated to Run for President he was hated by the core and Fox

:dunce:
Well, I don't know about the Republican voter base as a whole, but a lot of the right-wing pundits didn't care for him in 2008, either.

This is precisely why the average American should be at least mildly fond of McCain
He didn't really care about party affiliation
he did what he thought was right more than followed along party lines

McCain was consistent and not a mouth breather like Hannity or Coulter. He didn't drink the kool aid of the Republican-Nominee Du Jour.

That was clearly McCain's biggest plus - he wasn't beholden to any one party or ideology, he was his own man. With that said, I still wish he had been more. He wasn't terribly intelligent, he didn't necessarily use his bi-partisan role to reduce partisanship in the Senate (granted, maybe nobody could), he was a Senate lifer and I generally frown on those types anyway, and his attempt at campaign finance reform may have made a bad situation even worse. His service to his country should always be honored, but he was, truth be told, a somewhat mediocre Senator. And I did vote for Obama in '08.

If one considers the underlined statement true...and wishes all our politicians would emulate it...what worth is there to political parties???

I hate the GOP, but they at times support an important number of issues in a fashion I can support...

That’s something I can rarely say about a Democrat...

But both parties suck donkey and elephant dicks most of the time...

I respected Sen McCain for his military service...but, yea, he was a lifer in Congress and that really helps only the lifer, not the people...

McCain is one of the few things in politics that has actually been consistent over the years. A lot of people on the right had a problem with him back then. This Newsweek is from 2008. The subtitle says "why the right hates McCain".

Image
I believe he was the most liberal conservative out there, which was never what the right needed or wanted. There was no way to get him out of that senate.

World Nuts Daily is no different than Alex Jones - full of fake news, false conspiracy theories. Only a real idiot would believe any of the trash they post.

How is this article fake? All you have is rhetoric and stereotypes in your answer. You are smarter than that.

Almost seems like a subtle middle finger to Trump from the military, showing unity between the two countries.

Anyways, it's cooler than parading troops, SCUD missiles, and APCs on a street.

Why is it Republicans have to go out of the way to distance themselves from any marching white nationalist or fringe state senate candidate but that standard is never applied to Louis Farrakhan, the left, and the CBC?
