McCain was consistent and not a mouth breather like Hannity or Coulter. He didn't drink the kool aid of the Republican-Nominee Du Jour.
That was clearly McCain's biggest plus - he wasn't beholden to any one party or ideology, he was his own man. With that said, I still wish he had been more. He wasn't terribly intelligent, he didn't necessarily use his bi-partisan role to reduce partisanship in the Senate (granted, maybe nobody could), he was a Senate lifer and I generally frown on those types anyway, and his attempt at campaign finance reform may have made a bad situation even worse. His service to his country should always be honored, but he was, truth be told, a somewhat mediocre Senator. And I did vote for Obama in '08.
If one considers the underlined statement true...and wishes all our politicians would emulate it...what worth is there to political parties???
I hate the GOP, but they at times support an important number of issues in a fashion I can support...
That’s something I can rarely say about a Democrat...
But both parties suck donkey and elephant dicks most of the time...
I respected Sen McCain for his military service...but, yea, he was a lifer in Congress and that really helps only the lifer, not the people...
