I will say this. If there’s a double-standard among the sexes in tennis, then that’s not hard to fix. Just enforce the rules. I’m sure the violation codes are the same.

The breaking of the racket was easy, that's a violation every time for every player. The discretion comes with the other two violations, although the way she persisted in yelling at him for as long as she did and how she threatened him, the third violation was pretty non-controversial. The coaching one (that counted as #1) was the one that probably shouldn't have happened. Just like her temper tantrum shouldn't have happened. Pro athletes can be such babies at times, regardless of their gender.

The John McEnroe reference is a terrible one - the dude retired from tennis in 1992 - 26 years ago. The code of conducts that are in place in tennis now didn't exist then. And to make your comparison even worse and even more uninformed, McEnroe was punished repeatedly during his career for his temper tantrums - he was fined repeatedly, he was suspended from the tour (i.e. banned from tournaments) on multiple occasions because of his behavior, he was actually thrown out of tournaments for a third code violation (unlike Serena just having a game penalty), and he was even not invited to and honorary membership in the All England Club after his initial championship at Wimbledon, the first time they had ever denied someone that honor, because of his behavior. Imagine Wimbledon doing the same to Serena and keeping her out of the club - that would've been a story.

So, moral of the story is, McEnroe may be among the most fined and most penalized players in the history of tennis - Serena, her temper tantrums aside, in comparison has been treated with kid gloves. Nice job trying to make a comparison about something of which you have no actual knowledge.

Well, the written rules are sexist to a point, so there's that. There clearly is sexism in the sport and tennis needs to work on that, but Serena was/is trying to hide behind that sexism to avoid taking responsibility for her poor sportsmanship and her temper getting out of control.

And yes, there are plenty of examples of other tennis players, men and women, being assessed the same types of penalties that Serena was given - I never disputed that.

I know there was some controversy about what Serena Williams was allowed to wear, but of course if you let women tennis players dress up in tight-fitting and skimpy clothes there will be complaints from feminazis that they're being "sexualized" and "objectified", and if you make them dress more modestly there's complaints that men can wear what they want and women can't. You're not going to please all feminists no matter what you do.

Fact is she broke the rules, also the ref has a history of enforcing things tightly. One of her caches should have warned her.

Bottom line, it was her fault. Doesn’t matter what other refs did in past.
