Montana is where you go to get 1/2 what you're worth

Some of you might want to write that down
That's called a COLA, Clitz

35% sounds about right for CA

People love to hate California when most people have never even been there.

Too many people and expensive?...absolutely. But they know how to manage a huge economy and diverse population.

I like California, been there several times. They are just an easy target for jokes, because of the size and number of people, there is always something happening there to make fun of.

I've been to Oakland to watch baseball. Funny advisory from Trip Advisor

If you go to an event at the Oakland Coliseum or Arena, BART goes there. Walk directly from the station to the stadium, and directly back to the station later. You will be fine; there is even a ped overpass so you aren't walking in traffic. Don't make any scenic detours between the stadium and the train, no matter how fascinating the neighborhood looks.

How's the "sustaining" of the industrial Midwest going? Wisconsin sold itself to the Chinese just to create a few thousand jobs. It's gonna take a lot of government tax dollars to keep those states afloat! :kisswink:

California used to be great, I have lived there so I can proudly speak about it. It is too congested, some areas very crime ridden (Jeff, go for a ride in Compton it will be more thrilling than Disneyland), too expensive, too prone to natural disasters and the state is run by a very corrupt Democratic system supported by state unions.

Most of the Midwest is doing well except for Illinois.

I'm guessing you're talking about Foxconn. Random questions: Why do you hate Apple so much. Isn't Foxconn based in Singapore? Didn't blue Illinois try to lure Foxconn too but their business climate is a dumpster fire?

That list has to be wrong. There is no way there are 5 states more corrupt than PA. We're corrupt no matter what part of the state you're in. And really, no New Jersey on the list? Or are they exempt from the list?

I live in Illinois and the state is not doing well. Companies and people are fleeing in record numbers, public debt is crushing and ruling politicians are making no real effort to fix the problems.

Still far too low, and I had actually overlooked Illinois not being on the list. I was shocked about Delaware being on the list - maybe Ivy or 93 can speak to that - I always saw them as the nice little brother compared to the corruption that is PA and NJ.

I remember reading a book about TR and it had him riding the train through PA after McKinley was shot and killed and it made mention that, even back then, PA was a cesspool of corruption. We've been corrupt here since the beginning! :thumb:

Yes they know how.

Drive up the cost of EVERYTHING with excessive taxes and government regulation, so the middle class will be forced out of the state. What you'll have left will be the rich elites on the coast with their illegal gardeners, wait staff, maid and farm workers doing the menial tasks.

Californians fed up with housing costs and taxes are fleeing state in big numbers
Californians fed up with housing costs and taxes are fleeing state in big numbers
1:23 PM ET Tue, 20 March 2018 | 01:00

Californians may still love the beautiful weather and beaches, but more and more they are fed up with the high housing costs and taxes and deciding to flee to lower-cost states such as Nevada, Arizona and Texas.

"There's nowhere in the United States that you can find better weather than here," said Dave Senser, who lives on a fixed income near San Luis Obispo, California, and now plans to move to Las Vegas. "Rents here are crazy, if you can find a place, and they're going to tax us to death. That's what it feels like. At least in Nevada they don't have a state income tax. And every little bit helps."

Senser, 65, who previously lived in the east San Francisco Bay region, said housing costs and gas prices are "significantly lower in Las Vegas. The government in the state of California isn't helping people like myself. That's why people are running out of this state now."
