It's a well documented fact:
Trump doesn't even pay his contractors
He sure as hell isn't going to pay somebody based on his word

A legal binding contract isn't enough to make the guy pretend to be honorable

Clearly, the release of the results, the documentary she had done is all for the purpose of a 2020 run for the White House. Otherwise - who cares?

And honestly, it's stupid, origin stories like this that 1) don't matter and; 2) take away from serious discussions like affordable healthcare, entitlement reform, etc... Who cares that she's 1/1024th Cherokee?

It might provide fodder for the Trump choir. But the bottom line is that her account of her ancestry is consistent with the results. This is going to be seen by most people as validating her claim.

And it makes Trump look like a fool to most people. Not that he didn't look like a fool to most people already. But he made it worse today by asking "who cares?"

Obviously, HE cared. For him to respond with "who cares" really makes him look like a fool because he's obviously been making a big deal of it on a routine basis. Then he lies about saying he'd give money to a charity. What a dope.

Let's not forget that Warren claimed, while teaching law at Harvard and Penn, to be a minority based on Native American ancestry. That's how this all started. Her minute Native American ancestry hardly gave her the right to make that claim.

i don't think people will see this as validating her claim.

I think what you're talking about is, unfortunately, more a result of the conservative misinformation effort than it is a result of Warren doing anything improper. I think that the FactCheck.org article at https://www.factcheck.org/2017/12/eliza ... ntroversy/ provides a fair assessment.

I am a conservative. Anybody who has known me for years that I have been on message boards knows or should know that. But we are at a time in history right now where the conservative movement has gone off the rails. There is a lot of lying. There is a lot of being in denial.

If you are a conservative you SHOULD be upset by that. You should not accept the "side" you're on discarding principle and being dishonest.

Joe,
Wouldn't she have had to check the Native American "box" at least once, somewhere, at some time, ever..?
According to all records she's never checked anything other than the Caucasian box
on all applicable forms

Wrong, JSO. Warren has admitted to identifying as indian to both Harvard and Penn Law schools, and she was listed as minority in legal directories.

Also, Warren claimed her parents had to elope because her father's family didn't approve of his indian wife. A person who is 50% white and 50% indian can pass for white for a lot of people, but trying to discern if someone is 1/512 is impossible, so that doesn't seem plausible.

EW's Indian DNA content is less than the average for a white American according to the Genetic Literacy Project, that's a fact.

Now I'm all for white people trying to manipulate the bullshit diversity nonsense programs to their advantage, but Warren should be honest about it.

Thank you for some sense in this thread.

Also, Trump said if she could PROVE she was Native American. Some of you guys are claiming her maybe having a family member with a Latin American marker 6-10 generations ago makes her Native American?

No, that's not a fact and it's another example of the problem we have right now with misinformation coming from the conservative side. Here is an article on that which, while being part of the misinformation campaign, contains a Statement illustrating the situation:

https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/20 ... n-average/

Here's the statement:
A 2014 study by Harvard University and 23andMe found that European Americans tested overall for 0.18 percent Native American ancestry, while Ms. Warren’s results show she has anywhere from 0.09 percent to 1.5 percent.
Obviously, the described results show that Warren could be more "native American" than the stated 0.18 average. Also, the midpoint of the range 0.09 to 1.5 is 0.795; which is substantially above 0.18. That tells you that it's reasonable to think it's likely that Warren's percentage is substantially above the average percentage. Another way to look at it is that 0.18 is at about the 13th percentile of the Warren Range.

There is uncertainty in the results. But they fairly strongly suggest that Warren's percentage is above the average. The Conservative side is lying again.

If you want a fair assessment of the situation go to https://www.factcheck.org/2017/12/eliza ... ntroversy/.

Look, you can believe it or not but I am a conservative. And, really, if you've known me for years you should know that. But when your side is going off track you have to be willing to call it out. And there is a serious problem with the conservative side engaging in misinformation and downright lying right now.

Dude. They have been playing off of her results that say, "maybe she had" and employing the same tactic as maybe she has less than the average person.

TBH, I crack on her for playing up native heritage- but on the dishonesty scale for journos and politicians this is pretty much just a little white lie

If you hail from my part of NC or Oklahoma you are almost guaranteed to have a bit of Cherokee in you. Oklahoman Cherokees actually get some kind of stipend (I briefly courted a Cherokee girl from OK years ago)

But literally every white person from my neck of the woods in NC either claims a little blood, or assumes it - the ones who claim it vocally and often are usually seen as a bit nutty or fabulist - which is why I think Warren is funny but harmless, at least in this context - she's either nutty, fabulist, or using this to raise her multicultural/intersectional creds

Which, when you think of it, pretty much describes every politician ever born

I still think there's a lot of funny mileage to be gotten out of this though -

for example, Trump should donate 1000 bucks to charity (1/1000th of what he pledged)

or the suggestion that at 1/1000th, Pocahontas might be her actual ancestor
