Yeah, but that's only the tip of the iceberg. I'm talking more about even somebody building whatever home they want in a neighborhood of other homes. Your post that started this looked like it was all about setback rules. They are 100% needed. Imagine your neighbor being able to build to the end of their lot line, or being able to put up a 5 story home.
Correct - it's about setback rules. They exist for a reason. They've already been denied the home they wanted to build b/c it wasn't within the guidelines and would be totally out of character of the neighborhood. Even the house that's been approved is going to stand out. But not by much. I'm sure these two people are nice, they seem to be about mid 20s - but they've been led astray by professionals that ought to know better.

This is the lot...https://goo.gl/maps/66cjej9CRGM2 If you go to the right, down the hill and then back up, they own the land on either side of the creek. Which is unusable. Not sure why anyone would buy that.

Good southern woman in pink shirt mowing the grass. :thumb: Don't see that around here, but as soon as you hit the eastern shore...

She's also batshit crazy.

Now that I think about it, a few of my neighbors are single/widows that all mow their own lawns still.

A simple car trip to look at it would of saved them a lot of frustration.

There is not a lot of room on either side of the creek to build. Around here there has to be so many feet between a waterway and building and not even sure that would be a buildable lot.

Are you in a historical district or something? How can they deny it based on not matching the character of the neighborhood.

I'm all for making people follow setback guidelines, particularly front and side.

Here's a short one for Delaware. We have one rep in the US House. She's currently a negro Democrat. The Republican running against her is an old crazy white guy who the state GOP has withdrawn its support for. He's an alcoholic who was in treatment this calendar year. He recently proclaimed that he is fully recovered and is down to six beers a day.

You can't make this stuff up.

I'll probably vote for him!
He was the guy who finished 4th in the Democrat primary two years ago.
Are you heading to the Milford Halloween Parade tonight? The two best parts are usually the DelState band and the politicians. I have a box of tomatoes ready for the latter. Hoping to nail that wife beater Carper in the grille! Doubt Joe will show, but who knows.

A simple car trip or a look at it on the GIS map.

Historical district. This cemetery from the 1700s is 3 streets away from me in the neighborhood.

They are fairly lenient when it comes to remodeling an exterior. But this couple wanted a 2.5 story home, on piers with the garage underneath it. It just won't fit into this neighborhood.

I have a class, but I hope you have a great time! Carney richly deserves a little homemade marinara.

I think it was handled properly, it is not the neighborhoods fault the realtor FIL did not look at things prior to buying.
