I would sum up my political stance as the typical fiscally conservative, socially liberal type. Quite libertarian on most issues. My most liberal takes are that I am pro-environment, pro fag marriage, pro legalization of drugs and though personally pro-life I would never stop an abortion that would minimize overall human suffering of the unborn and the born (89 TRIGGERED!). My most conservative issue is, of course, guns. I will never relinquish mine willfully under any circumstance and I would resist with fire any attempt to do so, with the expectation I would lose.

100% agree. Although on virtually all issues related to sexual preference I couldn't give two shits and wish people would just leave them alone (and that they'd stop wearing their sexuality on their sleeves).

And not only is my most conservative issue guns, but I would add that I wholeheartedly and fundamentally disagree with the requirement for universal background checks, as I don't trust the government enough to not use the list for nefarious reasons later.

To me the 2nd amendment is the most important amendment in the Constitution, and is the sole reason we still have a republic today. And any attempt to thwart it, water it down or eliminate it will be met with maximum resistence until I can no longer pull the trigger.

I'm like 93, and likely others. I probably lean right overall, but I'm all over the map in terms of what positions I take. Generally, I'm fiscally right (not my fault the Dems pretty much have no economic platform) and I'm socially left (GOP gets real creepy with a lot of their social issues).

- pro criminal justice reform (revising bail, lesser sentences for lesser crimes, etc)
- pro marijuana legalization
- pro-life
- pro equal rights in every form (gay marriage, equal pay, anti-discrimination everywhere, etc)
- I'm fine with some gun restrictions but in favor of private gun ownership (mental health restrictions, universal background checks, etc)
- fine with or without unions, let workers decide and let the chips fall where they may
- pro environmental protection
- pro government directed Social Security (there will always be folks that can't handle fully privatized)
- pro NHS-style, or something like it, basic health care

List goes on. In Presidential elections I've voted evenly between GOP candidates and non-GOP candidates. I'm voting for a Democratic member of Congress this year and either for a GOP Senator or not at all (can't stand Bob Casey, Jr).

Nah, I see health care like the Social Security question. There will always be people that can't get by on their own and can't just be given their piece of the pie and then not need help afterwards. A basic health care system is the safety net to make sure they, and everyone, have the basic needs. And just like the UK's NHS, it will be a minimal institution and those with the means will end up using those means to get more when they need/want it. It may not be perfect, but I think it's more sustainable than what we have now. Give it 10-12 years, and we'll have this system.

People weren't ready for it then, and truth be told, both political parties have made compromise on any issue almost impossible at this point in time, especially on something that big. It won't happen now either, but I could see it coming to fruition in the next decade.
