That's cultural appropriation. She should be ashamed.houndawg wrote:....women, of color no less, wanting a seat on the gravy train. A lot of crazy **** can and does get brought up there but rarely...RARELY makes it out of committee, not to mention through the Senate. The HoR reflects the people, as crazy as we are, and gives us the opportunity to put forth wild ass proposals but the "refined" and "measured" Senate usually squashes that crap.
The point of that is to say, while AOC is delicious fodder for criticism, she's 1 person with wild ass ideas who will likely amount to nothing in the end and will have a legislative record of dull successes that don't really inspire anyone or change the nation.

The US is a nation on a progressive path which wandered off a little the last few decades. Some people fanned the fears of change for their own benefit and a portion of the population bought into it.Chizzang wrote:The floodgates are now open... Trump created this new "reality"houndawg wrote:

I'm confident the US will regain its bearings though, and I think it's beginning to do so. But it'll take time.

Agree and polling supports this. The average american is well to the left of political leadership on big issues but until/unless the influence of money is minimized in elections, I'm afraid you're not going to see much change.∞∞∞ wrote:The US is a nation on a progressive path which wandered off a little the last few decades. From the source of the picture you posted.Representative-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is pitching a “Green New Deal” that she says would overhaul U.S. energy use, reduce carbon emissions and create new jobs.
“We can put so many people to work,” Ocasio-Cortez told an audience at a televised town hall Monday night. “We need to refit so many pipes. We need to re-lay roads. We need to rebuild schools. We need to invent technology that’s never even been invented yet.”

I am not disagreeing with what she was trying to say. I'm laughing at how she said it.

Re: Ocasio-Cortez: The Upper-Middle Class Doesn't Exist Anymore in America
Whoa, this needs a much deeper dive. "The average American is well to the left of the political leadership on big issues...". Are you just trolling here or are you legitimately saying this? Link? Proof? Etc? And the next question is even if people are technically "for" a thing, a "big" issue (again, what are those "big issues") are they still "for" it when the political and economic realities of those positions come fully to light? Lot of people can be for something when they don't know much about it and when it really doesn't impact them. When push comes to shove, sometimes people will turn from idealists into realists.kalm wrote:Agree and polling supports this.
