It's when you discount everyone else and think you have all the answers is when people get pissed. It's amazing that Democrats and Republicans have all the answers.
I don’t believe you.

I was never objective to begin with. And I'm perfectly ok with that.
That's your problem right there. Having no objectivity makes you blind to new and different ideas - sounds like communism/socialism. Don't think outside the box. Don't question anything. Take this particular stance - hook, line and sinker.

You need objectivity in a democracy. You need to be open to a diversity in opinions.

Why are you anti-democracy and anti-diversity? That's a serious question. :coffee:

Both sides do it, but I thought Republicans were supposed to be tougher minded. This article is an example of why that might be a myth. For further examples, see all the posts on this board pining on about how bad white males have it in America. I suggest starting with pwns or AZ.

There's nothing incorrect about my statements regarding while males in America. We're the only group that it's perfectly acceptable to target for essentially ANYTHING.

Liberal guilt has made white males their punching bag.

Classical liberalism is a political ideology and a branch of liberalism which advocates civil liberties under the rule of law with an emphasis on economic freedom.

Notable individuals whose ideas contributed to classical liberalism include John Locke.

Classical liberals agreed with Thomas Hobbes that government had been created by individuals to protect themselves from each other and that the purpose of government should be to minimize conflict between individuals that would otherwise arise in a state of nature. These beliefs were complemented by a belief that laborers could be best motivated by financial incentive.

Drawing on ideas of Adam Smith, classical liberals believed that it is in the common interest that all individuals be able to secure their own economic self-interest. They were critical of what would come to be the idea of the welfare state as interfering in a free market.

Classical liberals argued for what they called a minimal state, limited to the following functions:

A government to protect individual rights and to provide services that cannot be provided in a free market.
A common national defense to provide protection against foreign invaders.[17]
Laws to provide protection for citizens from wrongs committed against them by other citizens, which included protection of private property, enforcement of contracts and common law.
Building and maintaining public institutions.
Public works that included a stable currency, standard weights and measures and building and upkeep of roads, canals, harbors, railways, communications and postal services.[17]

It's hard to imagine the definition above being applied to the left in today's USA. Defining whether you are liberal or conservative is a relative definition. Today's definition of liberalism is much different from the classical definition.

As it should be. The world has changed just a little from Locke’s time. For example, agrarianism is a wonderful concept. But there remain modern liberals who also appreciate Locke’s ideals. The social contract stuff is still worth arguing today.

No - I agree with his first part.

It is certainly en vogue to be openly hostile, racist and sexist towards white men because we share the skin color with some 18th Century slave owner.

Yes there does but you’ll find very few of them in establishment media or the Democrat Party. Just like you’ll find too few conservatives who recognize the equal if not greater threat to liberty imposed by monied interests and corporatists of both stripes.

I disagree. I think MOST conservatives feel that way...it's mainly the ones who get corrupted by DC that think as you've described. Conversely, I think MOST liberals swallow hook, line and sinker the bullshit spewed by the Pelosis, Waters', Obamas and O'Rourkes of their party...in fact many libs (who consider themselves mainstream) would say that those people are too far to the RIGHT. Thus the entire point of this article...the fact that "mainstream" libs have embraced the concept that it's completely acceptable to tear down and destroy a conservative merely because they are a conservative. Facist, racist, sexist, bigot, Nazi, etc., etc...I've been called them all, merely because I call myself a conservative. And it's totally acceptable for the left (in their eyes) to do that. They've embraced identity politics to the point that it's really all the know now.

Not at all. We now have Banana Republicans like the ones in WI, NC, GA, among others. Liberalism is far from perfect, but today's conservatives have stopped caring about democracy and believe they have an inherent right to govern, whether the voters want them or not. And they'll step on Americans to do it.

There is no way you could have typed that and, except for changing the specific states, flipped it to be about modern day American liberalism and not have had it be equally correct. Although, I guess if you consider the deplorables not to be Americans in the first place, then you could've convinced yourself otherwise. :ohno:

And standing above all of these states in their belief that they have an inherent right to govern whether the voters want them or not are the Democrats who run Illinois.

And take a look at this thread if you don't think they'll step on Americans to do it and you idealistically believe that the progressives coming into power are really going to be any different then the machine politicians they're attempting to replace ...
