More than 7,000 American troops will begin to return home from Afghanistan in the coming weeks, a U.S. official said.

Seeing reports on twitter that French troops will replace our troops in Syria. I hope it's true. Let somebody else play World Police.

Actually no. But way to deflect from the horrid decisions you helped occur.

That's true.

Probably because they called themselves something that rhymes with terd, nobody takes them seriously.

They should rename themselves The Fuckuban, or Neo-Huns, or something that sounds bad-ass.

Whether pulling out of Syria is the right thing or not (and I've heard very good arguments on either side of the question) I think it is a good thing to at least question why we have troops in harms way wherever they are. If we're asking for people to die for something we should at least be cognizant of why we're doing it.

Ask any Russian Military expert sill alive that was in the Afghan/Russian war of 1979 to 1989
The Mujahideen or Islamic guerrilla Forces won a war against a Major World Military

The Mujahhideen guerrilla mentality
It's now part of Islamic Afghan culture - alive and well still to this day
and there ain't one damn thing (shy of atomic bombs) that we can do about it

Also a case study in what happens when the people in Washington are attempting to make the on-the-ground decisions in real time.

So Obama waited and hoped ISIS would force Assad to come and negotiate with America, but instead went to Russia and people are upset Trump wants out of Obama's mess?

Remember all the left wing pearl clutching when John McCain said we’d have to be in Afghanistan and other places indefinitely?

I sure do -

And most of them are still doing it

What's your point, Mr. Pro-World Police Military Industrial Complex?

With some nuance, yes.

I am glad we're getting out of Syria and Afghanistan.

I am not glad our foreign policy is being made at the latest whim of Trump... with no larger strategy. He could decide to intervene in Venezuela next week fo all we know.

Well boo fvcking hoo

Too bad we didn’t leave with a masterful rhetorical flourish to make you feel good about us doing something you supposedly want to do anyway
