Yeah, except that you never heard of them before Gowdy went to work there. Nelson Mullins is a law firm, period. Kinda like Tesla makes solar panels, but is really known for making cars.

I've had to deal with Nelson Mullins or more than one occasion, and I can promise you it wasn't for lobbying purposes. They are one of the few firms out there who actually employs attorneys who know something about administrative law.
Just because you didn't experience their lobbying arm doesn't mean they don't do that. :coffee:

Also, just because they lobby, doesn't mean the Gowdy is part of that.

FWIW, from his profile on their website
Trey Gowdy focuses his practice on corporate and governmental compliance and investigations as a member of the White Collar Defense & Government Investigations team.

Yeah, and I never claimed they didn't lobby.

It's common knowledge that Nelson Mullins has a very robust lobbying arm, so I'm not sure that you're trying to do here. :?

While I think Warren is correct in that there should be a lifetime ban on politicians lobbying, I won't hold my breath that it will ever happen or that she would vote for it if it ever came up.

It’s just a generic assumption that they all do it and it’s a safe bet. Principled Congress critters are four-leaf clovers. I’d like to think that people like Warren, Sanders, Sasse, and Amash are truly legit.

""ZTE is a giant foreign telecom company that's close with the Chinese government. They've violated serious U.S. sanctions on Iran and North Korea. Their lobbyists keep blocking accountability. And today former Senator Joe Lieberman joined them. Should that be legal? No," Warren declared on Twitter.

"Corruption in Washington isn't about a single president or political party. It runs deep," the Massachusetts senator added. "We should call it out—and we should pass my sweeping anti-corruption reforms to clamp down on all the ways giant companies drown govt in money to get their way."

"We need a lifetime ban on Members of Congress working as lobbyists to make sure they only serve the public. We need a ban on foreign lobbying so countries like China, Russia and Saudi Arabia have to conduct their foreign policy out in the open. I've proposed both..."

I tried but almost every google hit is from a right leaning source which I suppose could mean the left wants it to go away.

As Chizzy pointed out the firm "specializes in lobbying" has offices from coast to coast, and is a large and powerful firm. I'm sure he'll keep his nose on the white criminal law side of things and refuse to provide his company with any access to congress, even if he could.

You don't need to register to provide access. It's simply a phone call to a former colleague. Maybe Gowdy can start prosecuting white collar lobbying crime. The entire system is legalized corruption...no use in defending it.
