I can forgive serving Big Macs on century-old silver platters.
I can forgive the candle lit dinner.
I can forgive the laziness.
But to serve cold fast food?

There's hundreds of restaurants close to the White House. If he wanted to go cheap yet good, Moby Dick's (local Kabob chain) is 6 blocks away:Ibanez wrote:∞∞∞ wrote:I can forgive serving Big Macs on century-old silver platters.

Probably would have cost an extra $200, yet tasted 1000x better.

While Trump is a buffoon, and while the circumstances that made this happen (Trump and Pelosi using 800k+ federal workers as bargaining chips against each other) are rotten and despicable, and while serving fast food like this (cold I imagine, or at least not hot) is admittedly a bit shabby, the reactions to this almost mirror the reason why we have Trump in the White House today. There's no getting around the fact that plenty of people in this country eat fast food everyday, no matter how unhealthy it is. Trump comes off looking like a man of the people (when he clearly isn't) while folks on the left attack the imagery and make fun of anyone who would eat such "food". If you listen closely you can even hear them "guffawing" at such common baseness. When there's no attempt to find middle ground you end up with episodes like this.Chizzang wrote:The players are going to love it...

But not bizarre to everyone. Plenty of people (even at least a good portion of those invited - certainly not all) enjoyed it and thought it great (or at the least humorous). I think people miss that when there's such a mad dash to Twitter and the like to get the best skewering in.∞∞∞ wrote:I’m not offended at all; I’m simply sitting here scratching my head.GannonFan wrote:

Who even remembers who McConnell is? Has anyone even seen him lately? With all the polls that JSO posts, do any of the polls call out McConnell as anywhere close to public enemy #1? Nope, it's Trump and right after him it's Pelosi. He wants a wall and she doesn't want to give him a wall. Nothing else matters. Political duopoly tends to make this happen. I'm sure Pelosi would've loved not to have to deal with this and would rather be setting the agenda and the talking points - heck, we're into our third week now of the new Democrat-controlled House and the only thing really making headlines is the shutdown. Even the news of Cohen testifying in a few weeks got lost in the noise after a couple of news cycles. No doubt Trump is a despicable person, but when you revolve in the same storyline with him you tend to get caught up in it too, as Pelosi has found out.dbackjon wrote:Wrong - it is not Pelosi. 18-22 year olds don't want filet mignon or caviar or horderves (if I spelled any of that wrong, good). They want large portions and not 5 ounces of tasteless, white-collar garbage food. They haven't yet developed a local restaurant fetish that so many adults have, either.

McConnell is in deep with China and Russia - his business dealings would be investigated non-stop if he was a Democrat.GannonFan wrote:Who even remembers who McConnell is? What is Pelosi supposed to do? There was a reasonable deal voted on and passed by both houses, then Ann Coulter rejected it.
