Just in case you still harbor any doubt that the Native American (proof?) Vietnam Vet (doubtful, given his age) Activist was not the innocent victim here....
Mr. Sandmann's mother is a VP at Fidelity. Take it for what it is.

Nathan Phillips was one of the leaders of the Standing Rock Protests.

The twitter account that started this has been suspended.

Phillips knew what he was doing, and millions of libs got sucked right into it.

He could be a Vietnam Vet. He was 18 in February of 1972, the last troops out of Vietnam were in March of 1973.

Well, at least a good lesson that comes out of this is that knee-jerk reactions tend not to be fully complete nor accurate. I'm not excusing the actions of the kids in the video, there's plenty of things they did that I've already told my kids that are completely unacceptable and wrong. Also at fault are numerous other people in the video. Hard to find anyone who isn't at fault in this thing. But learning to take a breath and hear all the evidence before expressing righteous outrage, on either side of the aisle, is a good lesson to learn too.

Also interesting that the Twitter account most responsible for amplifying this, as per CNN, was a fake Twitter account of a California teacher who was actually some blogger from Brazil (perhaps the Russians just relocated?) and now the account has been suspended by Twitter.

https://www.cnn.com/2019/01/21/tech/twi ... index.html
Molly McKew, an information warfare researcher who saw the tweet and shared it herself on Saturday, said she later realized that a network of anonymous accounts were working to amplify the video. Speaking about the nature of fake accounts on social media, McKew told CNN Business, "This is the new landscape: where bad actors monitor us and appropriate content that fits their needs. They know how to get it where they need to go so it amplifies naturally. And at this point, we are all conditioned to react and engage or deny in specific ways. And we all did."
A lot of people reacting, engaging, and denying in exactly the ways they tend to reflexively do. No thought required. :coffee:

Covington Catholic knew exactly what they were doing sending students to the Women's March in DC in the middle of January. And why do the adults/chaperons keep getting a free pass in all of this?

There's a lot of blame to go around on this one. From what I've read, Covcath sends a group every year.

I don't think it is. I don't think that old Native American guy was "at fault." Weird, but nothing wrong with what he did. He was just trying to break up the situation. It's ridiculous that people are pointing to the actions of those Black Hebrews as somehow justifying how those kids behaved towards that old man; especially the one that is the central character. The fact that some Black Hebrews yelled insults at them does not in any way or sense justify mocking and messing with an old man like that. Just no way no how. The old man was not the one yelling insults at everybody.

Here is the PR firm that Covington Catholic hired to come in and do clean-up. One of the partners (Jennings) associated with Mitch McConnell (surprise surprise!) Almost like they had them ready and waiting.

The Native American has given at least 2 versions of his story. He was one of the leaders of the Standing Rock pipeline protest. He knew exactly what he was doing drumming up to a young kid with a Trump hat, from a Catholic school, that had just participated in the pro-life march.

I agree - lefties who jumped in right away to vilify anything on their political opponents are certainly on the retreat, trying to still be righteous while covering up the gaps they overlooked in their zeal to condemn. Righties are trying to overlook the obvious overreaction by the students to a group of crazy street protestors who probably yell a bunch of racist/homophobic/sexist crap every moment of the day. No need to jump right in and try to one up them with your own racist crap - walking away would've been really easy. Both sides come out of this looking like they have recently - perfectly willing to stretch the truth, or just flat out not telling the truth, so that they can score "points" against their political opposites.

Unless the video is CGI or something so that what is shown didn't really happen none of that changes anything. People keep trying to divert attention away from the behavior of the students or try to excuse it in ways that don't excuse it. It is what it is. That behavior was unacceptable and the behavior of the central character who was messing with the old guy is particularly unacceptable.

I find it strange that the Twitter account was suspended given some of the stuff that goes out over Twitter. Never mind I just looked it up and I don't think it was because of the content of the tweet. It appears to be because it was someone pretending to be someone/something they're not. It was a blogger in Brazil pretending to be a school teacher in California so it violated Twitter's rules that forbid fake or misleading accounts.

Again: It amazes me that people think what happened leading up to the incident somehow justifies the way those kids in general and the central character in particular acted towards an old man who had NOT been among those hurling insults at everybody.

I don't get why he was even involved. No need for him to enter the fray except for the chance to have the guys following him get stuff on video. His own crew got into the racist back and forth as well with the idea that the kids should go back to Europe.

The white kids were racists. The black guys were racists. And apparently the Native Americans were racists as well. Lessons on how not to behave abound throughout this video. Everyone is so conditioned to act out on their outrage nowadays that no one thinks ignoring/walking away are even options anymore. Some of you guys have to be exhausted being this outraged 24/7.

Not justifying anything, Phillips walked into the group of kids, they didn't approach him. He knew what he was doing. Trying to get a reaction from the kids with MEGA caps.

Well, for one, fake accounts, Twitter or Facebook or what have you, are the central theme in the 2016 election investigation that we're still several years into right now. People who are outraged think these things could be bringing down nothing less than our democracy. Pretty big stuff, no?

And really, I literally said that nothing justifies what those kids did. For someone who writes in paragraphs you sure have a weird ability to not read what others write.
