The Native American has given at least 2 versions of his story. He was one of the leaders of the Standing Rock pipeline protest. He knew exactly what he was doing drumming up to a young kid with a Trump hat, from a Catholic school, that had just participated in the pro-life march.

I don't get why he was even involved. No need for him to enter the fray except for the chance to have the guys following him get stuff on video. His own crew got into the racist back and forth as well with the idea that the kids should go back to Europe.

The white kids were racists. The black guys were racists. And apparently the Native Americans were racists as well. Lessons on how not to behave abound throughout this video. Everyone is so conditioned to act out on their outrage nowadays that no one thinks ignoring/walking away are even options anymore. Some of you guys have to be exhausted being this outraged 24/7.

How do you feel about the adult chaperons in this group? Also....why are these children milling abvout for over an hour in this video? This wasn't part of an organized march or protest by the Covington Catholic group from what I can gather. Were they there to stir things up.....or just enjoying raw January day in DC standing around?

Unless the video is CGI or something so that what is shown didn't really happen none of that changes anything. People keep trying to divert attention away from the behavior of the students or try to excuse it in ways that don't excuse it. It is what it is. That behavior was unacceptable and the behavior of the central character who was messing with the old guy is particularly unacceptable.

I find it strange that the Twitter account was suspended given some of the stuff that goes out over Twitter. Never mind I just looked it up and I don't think it was because of the content of the tweet. It appears to be because it was someone pretending to be someone/something they're not. It was a blogger in Brazil pretending to be a school teacher in California so it violated Twitter's rules that forbid fake or misleading accounts.

Again: It amazes me that people think what happened leading up to the incident somehow justifies the way those kids in general and the central character in particular acted towards an old man who had NOT been among those hurling insults at everybody.

Not justifying anything, Phillips walked into the group of kids, they didn't approach him. He knew what he was doing. Trying to get a reaction from the kids with MEGA caps.

I don’t know how people go on like this sometimes. It has to be a miserable existence... but I guess some people like being miserable and a smaller slice of the miserables can only relieve themselves by spreading their unhappiness around

Not just our country. The world isn't all roses out there. Didn't France just go through about a month of violent protests? The UK's got Brexit going on. China is busy trying to eradicate a whole section of their population that they don't like. Germany is struggling to decide who they're going to be post-Merkel. And so on. For us, I think we've gotten extremely uncivil in our disagreements. Like I said, outrage 24/7. And Trump is just a symptom of that since we've been doing it for awhile now. Like I said, I'm shocked the practitioners of 24/7/365 outrage on either side of the aisle aren't exhausted.

I ask again: Why is this getting as much national media attention as it is? It's a tiny fraction of people - a bunch of kids - misbehaving at an anti-abortion rally. You've always got boorish behavior between grown men between protestors and counter-protestors at demonstrations (do a video search for "Trump supporters assaulted" and I bet you can find a treasure trove of stuff). Why is the media reporting this and omitting mitigating key facts?

It's being reported by a media that has an axe to grind and has abandoned all objectivity to paint a picture of "Trump's America" that's been around since long before Trump has been in office. The old JSO would've saw right through this BS. If any other Republican were in office you'd be calling this exactly what it is.

Media follows social media. This was all over Twitter before it was all over traditional media. Get with the program gramps.

Which explains why the media is full of fake news. Instead of ignoring social media, which is full of lies, distortions, innuendo, and doing their own investigative reporting, like they used to do back in the day, & waiting until all the facts come out before reporting on an issue, the lazy media just parrots whatever are the hot items on social media..
