The Republican Party is diseased right now. It needs to be pruned back in hopes of having it grow again in good health. The Republicans need to find a way to stop pandering to the types of nut jobs that resulted in Trump being the Republican Party nominee. It's very tough. But those people need to be marginalized. Nobody should be trying to "understand" them. Nobody should be trying to bring them in. They should be marginalized and excluded form influencing the direction of the country.

Everyone should have a voice in the Democratic Republic system.

Where it goes astray is gerrymandering, electoral colleges, and having one rep per 750K citizens.

So, Montana has an equal voice to California, even though it has 1/18th the number of votes?

Hmmm. I think you may be confusing the Electoral College with the US Senate.

This afternoon, I met a furniture rep that deals with the GSA. To keep him busy, his company is having him give product demonstrations to clients that aren't his (which is how we met). However any sales still go to the rep which deals with that client.

Said he's hurting bad since he relies on commissions.

I have two close friends who work for GSA. One works in a division that generates revenue from charging other government agencies a fee for service, so he is still working and being paid. The other is in Policy (like me) and is furloughed.

Selling furniture to the government?

There's an example of someone who should have saved money for a rainy day. The furniture companies like Drexel have honey deals with the gov.... they charge 5 and 6 times what they do for the same pieces in a showroom (and usually the ugly crap they can't sell to the public). Their reps are WELL commissioned... hell, this guy is in an income bracket you would love to tax into oblivion, Treep

Support in what way? I didn't vote for him. I probably won't vote for him if he runs again. I think he is his own worst enemy. I am glad Hillary was not elected. I enjoy how angry he makes otherwise rational people.

Agreed. That's why Gov Hogan is trying to do something about the districts in Maryland. :thumb:

Did anyone think Trump was going to be a uniter? I'm pretty sure that was one of the expectations of Obama.

I got news for you Wee.... any R in the WH is going to be a divider because libs simply can't help themselves.

I thought this was a good read from the BBC. I didn't actually realize we already have $1.7B in funding from a prior Congressional approval for the wall that we're just now building.
