Vaccines don't cause autism in those individuals with metabolic issues. The vaccines might TRIGGER something. But they aren't the cause. There seems to be a correlation between women with autoimmune disorders and autistic children, but the science is conflicted.

I know you're going through this with your son...but vaccines didn't cause the autism. The underlying conditions were already there. The vaccines, possibly, were just the catalyst. :twocents:

When I was about 18 months old, the vaccines. I was given didn't give me Guillain-Barré syndrome...they just allowed it to take place.

https://www.ninds.nih.gov/Disorders/Pat ... Fact-Sheet
Guillain-Barré syndrome can affect anybody. It can strike at any age and both sexes are equally prone to the disorder. The syndrome is rare, however, afflicting only about one person in 100,000. Usually Guillain-Barré occurs a few days or weeks after the patient has had symptoms of a respiratory or gastrointestinal viral infection. Occasionally surgery will trigger the syndrome. Recently, some countries worldwide have reported an increased incidence of GBS following infection with the Zika virus. In rare instances vaccinations may increase the risk of GBS.
Consider me rare. Youngest person (as of 1985) to have GBS.

So, SeattleGriz thinks there's not enough evidence for him to believe in evolution... but, there is enough evidence to believe in a link between vaccines and autism?

Let's not overlook this nugget:
The greater than three-fold increase in autism diagnoses among students in special education programs in the United States between 2000 and 2010 may be due in large part to the reclassification of individuals who previously would have been diagnosed with other intellectual disability disorders, according to new research.

I don't think there is any link between autism and vaccinations other than the fact there are 100 cases in which the CDC's Vaccine Injury Court has awarded compensation because their children developed autism. Took me a minute to see what Silenoz was getting at and yes, I agree about vaccinations being a trigger.

100 cases in millions. I would have to say that is pretty far out there on the sigma curve that should be expected and in fact amazed it isn't higher.

Nice try. I have always felt vaccines were safe, but there is always going to be a subset that is adversely affected.

Flu vaccine is the worst offender.

Just noticed this. I have never said vaccines caused my son's autism and have never felt that way. All three of my kids have followed the vaccination schedule to a tee.

I guess my issue is all the absolutes that are leveled towards vaccination safety, when injury obviously occurs in very limited instances.

Lastly, my feelings are not hurt in any one way and if they were, I wouldn't be on this board. The insults don't need to be tempered my way, just because my son has autism. Let the jabs fly!

Good detective work Columbo. :thumb:

We already hashed this out and I agree with what Silenoz and Ibanez have said about vaccines being the trigger. Still doesn't change the discussion nor the fact there are individuals that develop long term issues due to vaccinations triggering a response.

I'll say this. B/c of the GBS, I can't ever take the flu shot.

Guess how many times I have ever had the flu....Zero. :thumb:

Vaccinations are really not my worry.

*Foil Hat Moment*

My worry is that we have polluted ourselves and our environment with too many synthetics. Not out of sloppiness, simply out of not knowing long term effects or even what to look for in the first place. For example, there are reports that the BPA-free is just as bad as BPA. Who knew? Nobody apparently! I bet we do this more often than we know.

I don't think that's a conspiracy-esque idea. We have so many genetically modified foods, synthetics, antibiotics, steroids, chemicals in general in our environment that it would be foolish to think they haven't had an unintended effect on our bodies. I don't recall where i saw it, but there was a study done that shows a correlation between obesity and the mass production of food with genetically modified foods. With all the additives and preservatives....we should expect something to happen.

As of Sunday, there are 35 confirmed cases of measles in the state of Washington -- an outbreak that has already prompted Gov. Jay Inslee to declare a state of emergency.
"Measles is a highly contagious infectious disease that can be fatal in small children," Inslee said in his proclamation on Friday, adding that these cases create "an extreme public health risk that may quickly spread to other counties."
There were 34 cases of the measles in Clark County, which sits on the state's southern border, just across the Columbia River from Portland, Oregon. Officials said 30 of the cases involved people who have not had a measles immunization; the other four are not verified. Of the 34 cases, 24 are children between age 1 and 10. There are also nine suspected cases in Clark County.

Hell, just go the "I don't take vaccinations on religious grounds" route

I'm fine with vaccinations, but when they wake you up at 3am to ask if they can give your newborn a hep b shot, you realize it's become a bit much.

$4 billion in vaccine injury claims. I'll say it again. I don't think this is outside of what the manufacturers put on the inserts, but acting like shit doesn't happen is being disingenuous.

I did get an interesting sex offender notice today. You know, I get notifications when a registered sex offender moves nearby. Never saw one like this before. Most of the time the offense is something like "carnal knowledge of a juvenile" or "rape" or something.

This one was "Incest." Had the offender identified as a 5'10", 100 lb. White woman. 5'10, 100 lbs. I'm trying to visualize that. Anyway welcome to the neighborhood.
