What a stupid statement. Why is blind loyalty a requirement?
I think he's alluding to the fact that one guy was half dead, the other half retired, and both were in FU Trump mode. Then there are also the Senators without penises (Collins and Murkowski) who don't have big brown people issues in their respective northern states and like to shake hands across the aisle a lot.

Monday and Tuesday were brutal. I discovered that excepted employees were sweating work assignments while the unwashed masses of non-essentials (like me) were out. So, I had 35 days worth of angst to get through in my inbox on Monday morning. This also necessitated me getting up at 2:30am on Tuesday so I could get to my desk at 5:30am and bust out a review of a 75 page policy document that I completed with 30+ comments supported by federal regulation cited footnotes before my boss arrived at 8:30, all without cocaine or meth.

I'm awesome like that.

So basically you're saying you can complete 5 weeks of work in about 3 hours.

That, ladies and gentlemen, is how government workers cram 60 minutes of work into a 8 hour day.

Perhaps you need to go back and read JSO's post that I was responding to.

Nancy Pelosi said "No wall, no discussion" prior to the shutdown, WAY back in October.

That isn't a negotiation at all, that's an ultimatum.. .just like, "I'll shut down the government if I don't get the wall."

Lol...

"Way back in October" is right....

Democrats hadn't won the midterm, much less taken control of the House. Nancy had no position to negotiate.

If Trump and the Senate wanted the wall, Nancy and the House Democrats couldn't have done anything to stop it.
As far as fiscal matters were/are concerned, the conks didn't/don't control the Senate- it takes 60 votes to pass spending bills. So all Pelosi & the House donks had to do was to get 41 donk Senators to say no.

Not really. Had another busy one today. Put in two extra hours, unpaid.

It's fun to bash government employees when you have no real idea what their particular office does or what their personal work ethic is like. Yeah, there are plenty of shit sacks. I'm not one of them.

All trying to somehow skirt around the fact that House dems are saying they won't negotiate, and have always said they won't negotiate. But they'll agree to negotiate if the government is opened again. Or they'll negotiate on not negotiating, or not negotiate on negotiating

And people wonder about Trump supporters buying HIS bullsh!t

‘Average incomes’ are skewed higher for the civilian workforce because of the wealthy. I think median for individual (or family/household for that matter) is a better metric than avg income.

The problem with the salary comparisons of gubmint (at any level) to private sector is that even in like to like job comparisons the output/expectations/efficiency is never apples to apples. Since gubmint employees can't be fired/laid off on a whim (unless it's an "at-will" position), the trade off is typically better benefits, retirement, more personal time (less demanding schedule, more paid leave) and most importantly, guaranteed employment. Considering those factors, I don't see why gubmint salaries shouldn't lag private sector counterparts. And if that is a sticking point for gubmint workers, then guess they should look for employment in the private sector.
