A Virginia Military Institute yearbook overseen by future state Senate Majority Leader Tommy Norment in 1968 features a host of racist photos and slurs, including blackface.

The revelation about one of Virginia's most powerful Republicans comes as the state’s Democratic governor and attorney general are facing calls to resign over their own admissions they wore blackface as young men.

Norment, R-James City County, was managing editor of The Bomb publication that year. He went to VMI in Lexington after graduating from James Blair High School in Williamsburg and has been a state senator since 1992.

I think the Virginia Governor handled things badly and made it worse for himself. But I still think the outrage over the Blackface thing is irrational. I don't think a white person should automatically be in trouble for dressing up as a black person for a costume party or something like that just like I think it's fine to dress up like an indian (native American). I think the level of sensitivity over such things is way over the top.

Frankly, let's say the Governor was dressed up as a black guy and that was his costume party date dressed up in a KKK robe. I think that's creative. Absolutely no way that should piss people off and, to me, if you are pissed off by that there is something wrong with YOU.

And yes I know the thing about "you can't tell me what does or does not offend me." And that's right. I can't. But I can tell you've got a problem if you're offended by it. You need to grapple with your own insecurities.

As a Virginian I could care less what these people did 30+ years ago. I do have to admit that the sight of the holier than thou Democrats squirming is quite enjoyable.

I'd say that the big one is the sexual assault allegation. If a guy really does force himself on a woman that really is bad. I've thought about my own life and I've never done that. I can remember times when women came on to me (believe it or not) then when it came to crunch time they didn't want to and I always respected their wishes. Like I'm talking we're naked and wiggling and when it comes to crunch time doubts are expressed. And I ALWAYS backed off.

God Agrees To Spare Virginia If Just 10 Democrats Who Never Wore Blackface Can Be Found

In a statement issued from on high, the Almighty has agreed to spare the state of Virginia from His imminent wrath if state officials can locate just ten Democrats who never wore blackface or a KKK costume at some point in their lives.



God had announced His plan to immediately destroy Virginia, but Democrat leaders quickly begged him to spare the state if they could locate just 50 Democrats who never dressed in blackface. Being unable to do so, they managed to get the Lord to reduce the requirement to 40, then 30, then 20, and finally just 10.
