Yes I do wish that video would not have cut some things out. But she is effective. I think Republicans are making a mistake by emphasizing her.

And BTW I think Federal elected officials should be held to the same Ethics standards as Federal employees are. They obviously are not. But they should be. And if you don't like that you shouldn't run for Federal office.

Nope. Everyone can see how stupid she is. They are right to give her as big a stage as possible.

You couldn’t be more wrong on that

The best remedy for her brand of nonsense is daylight

And so far, her only “achievement” is her support for the Amazon debacle in NYC

There are already some establishment knives out for her - and there’s a good possibility that if she doesn’t lower her profile she will be primaried by someone handpicked by the De Blasio- Bloomberg wing of the NY Dem party

She’s good for Nancy Pelosi though - she’s no longer the lightning rod

We'll see. She's at the point now, or at least was when the poll was conducted, of being very close among respondents to Donald Trump in a theoretical head to head match up for President if she were old enough in a Republican biased Rasmussen poll conducted January 10 - 13 (40% to 43% with 17% undecided). And of course she's well within the 6 percentage point margin of error for the difference so the poll is really saying "too close to call." The poll is described at http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_ ... _winner_is.

I think giving her a lot of face time with the general public is likely to increase support for things like an aggressive response to slow climate change and a single payer government health care system rather than diminish it. I think Republicans and/or Conservatives are kind of in an echo chamber thinking that what she's selling is considered stupid by and is unpopular among the general population outside of that echo chamber. And I think they're wrong about that. They post their videos of her on Facebook snipping a statement here and a statement there and yucking it up among themselves. But among those outside of their "community" she's doing OK. Way up among Democrats and/or Liberals and about even among Independents and/or Moderates.

You make the mistake of pitting her against Trump

she will never run against Trump

IF she gets traction to run for President one day she will be squashed by <insert any adult here>

That’s assuming the GOP nominates an adult. Present evidence suggests that isn’t a given

I’m fairly certain that her body of knowledge of the Berlin Wall consists of the fact that it was in Berlin and that’s about it

She might also know that Berlin is in Germany

But can she double-down on her stupidity in the face of overwhelmingly negative feedback from the American people, her own party, and all of our traditional allies. That's the current benchmark.

I would argue that Sarah Palin and John McCain were pretty much sunk after that Katie Couric interview.

But of course, AOC has the advantage of being female and non-white (yes, I said that), and it's 2019 and not 2008. I can admit AOC can probably learn some things too, while I'm not sure Palin can.

Yeah, she's 29.

Palin was a freshman member of the Wasila City Council when she was her age.

You are correct, and I should add that people are more easily fooled today than ever. It's kind of crazy to think that as knowledge has gotten easier to access, people have actually gotten more ignorant.

It makes me start to believe the teaching methods we used to have. In college, for the life of me I didn't understand why I needed to take a foreign language to earn a degree in Geography. I was told that it wasn't the language itself that was important, but it was that the learning process of languages was different and therefore an integral part of overall education.

As we use and rely on things like spell/grammar check, smart phones, voice to text, audio books, self-driving cars... I think the average person is becoming less and less intelligent. I've met with college grads who can't do simple math in their head or understand what should be simple financial concepts. I swear it won't be far before...
