You know I have to say that I do think Democrats tend to enjoy a net benefit when it comes to people voting illegally. I actually think that the results of the work done on the Bush/Gore 2000 thing in Florida were consistent with that.

I do not think it is a large effect. I think the Republicans tend to overstate it. Like for instance I think that the net impact of it in Florida in 2000 was about a 2,000 vote advantage for Gore. That's going from memory because all the links I had to articles and such tracking the situation no longer work.

But this thing that happened in North Carolina IS rich. It's different than the people themselves illegally voting. Like with the 2000 Florida thing I'm talking about stuff like people who voted more than once and felons voting when Florida law says they're not supposed to. You know, people who actually went to the polls and cast illegal votes.

This North Carolina thing was different than that. But it's still rich.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth

But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth

So, given that I wrote that I think Democrats do benefit to an extent from illegal voting but that Republicans over state the effects, you think that someone saying that 1,177 cases of voter fraud across a country with a population of 328 million people contradicts what I wrote?

And BTW, with a couple of quick clicks, I can see that the period during which those 1,177 cases occurred extends to at least as far back as 1993. That's like 25 years. That does not exactly create the impression that rampant voter fraud has been documented.

Nobody has ever suggested that there is ZERO voter fraud. What's been suggested is that it is minimal. Nothing about saying that there have been 1,177 documented cases of voter fraud over 25 years in a nation with a population of around 300 million people contradicts the idea that it is minimal.

Approx 138,000,000 voted, which is about 58% of the total eligible voters, just to correct the perception that 300 million can vote. The corruption was at the primary level, which gave us Clinton and Trump as the two main candidates.

Restricting the count to people who actually voted is fair. But we're still talking about just over 1,000 cases of voter fraud over 25 years in a country where somewhere around 100 million vote in a given national election.

I don't think it's corruption at the primary level either. It is what is is.

The Republican candidate whose apparent victory in a North Carolina congressional race was thrown out because of suspicions of ballot fraud announced Tuesday he will not run in the newly ordered do-over election, saying he needs surgery late next month.
In a statement, Mark Harris said he's skipping the upcoming re-do election in North Carolina's 9th congressional district for health reasons. He did not mention the alleged ballot fraud scandal.

BTW I do think it can make a difference in very close elections. Like for all the stuff about G.W. Bush and Florida in 2000 the truth is that it's likely that Gore had a net edge of about 2,000 among the roughly 5,000 illegal votes known to have been cast. That was definitely a case in which illegal voting came very close to winning the State for the Democrat.

But it's rare for things to be that close in a statewide race. And it's REALLY rare for things to be that close in terms of determining who wins a Presidential election.
