The blame really goes to New York City and New York State.
How so?
It's the state that has the ability to offer tax incentives and such to businesses wanting to come in. Sure, politicians help out, I don't deny that, but it's not solely the job of a freshman Representative to bring companies into their district and to get legislatures to approve of any additional tax benefits (like SC had to do with Boeing).

Additionally, the process to bring Amazon to NY started long before the 2018 elections. I'd say NY, it's various governments and tax policies are more to blame than AOC.

I know she protested it, but the state did a bad job of educating the public as well. 70% of the benefits are available to anyone. And they wanted Amazon to help the infrastructure and public schools in the surrounding area? Oh the horror!

SC has Boeing doing the same thing. Boeing hired my FiL to educate state schools on nutrition. It's working except for one part - a conglomerate of farmers has a lot of influence and isn't allowing small local farmers provide locally grown, seasonal foods.

Telling large scale corporations to go fuck themselves usually works out fine for the state and local community
When Washington told Boeing to go fuck themselves every right wing pundit predicted Washington would suffer

But that never happened
Boeing moved to South Carolina which is where that plant belonged frankly
and Washington State is still the No. 1 economy in the US

Bingo,
What works in South Carolina wouldn't work in Washington
and so goes the story

Too many state and city officials are so desperate to make business easy
They forget their responsibility to the citizens and infrastructure of their community

We've created a political environment where corporations expect a free ride
at the expense of literally everybody in the community

Each community needs to manage corporate expectations appropriately for their region

Everyone wants to extract money from the economy. Everyone feels entitled. This includes the wealthy and large corporations. They’re just better equipped to do it...which has very little to do with benefiting the greater good of cities,, counties, states, countries...

More Loser talk. “Well, we won the GDP battle!” WAFJ. She simply can NOT get over the fact that she lost. And she still has zero idea WHY.

Trump won the places that feed America. That provides the wheat, grain, corn, vegetables, etc., etc. That clothe America. That provide the oil that America runs on. I’ll take those places 7 days a week and twice on Sunday compared to the shitholes like San Francisco, St. Louis, Detroit, Cleveland, Baltimore, New Orleans, etc., etc.

Maher is a moron. In his smug, condescending, prickness, he insinuates all of red America is made up of deplorables, without actually calling them deplorables. He talks about a “3 billion dollar tax bribe” like it was $$ NYC was spending. Its not. Instead of NYC getting 30 an estimated 30 billion off the Amazon deal, they would’ve gotten 27 billion. Now they get ZERO.

The point is NYC doesn't need Amazon... at all - not even slightly
and there are places like St. Louis that could totally benefit from it

No doubt he's condescending
but it's amazing how his simple point gets lost on those who you think would agree - because he's a dick

Similar to my previous point (which was missed because I'm a dick)
Seattle and Washington State don't need Boeing production jobs so Boeing can skate along tax free
and do nothing for the infrastructure

it's better for them to go where they are actually needed
Likewise
Amazon should go where they provide the most value to America - Hint: That's not NYC

Somehow?

What do you mean.. "somehow"?

That's Maher being Maher - and he's actually pretty funny, but yes the elitism is likely a bit hard to take if you are one of those people living in a town where the mill shut down 10 years ago

And yes he's absolutely right .... fortunately his target audience is the people who need to be changing themselves - namely, people like him

But he exhibits the same anthropological attitude towards people who can be monolithically referred to as white, middle class - even he would shy away from talking about the other 5 billion people on this planet who are exactly like them, only browner

Personally, I have been thinking to myself over the last few weeks that the grievance peddling socialists who hate companies like Amazon are doing what they always do - but in this case if it pushes Amazon out into a place where AOC probably thinks they still cook over a fire after some good ol hunting and gathering, that would be a good thing

I read the article, I saw the story. Maher is a pompous a-hole who hates most of America—he’s made that very clear for years, so I’m not sure why you’re somehow surprised that he was condescending here....doesn’t change the fact she STILL doesn’t know why she lost...and based on things the donk leadership continues to say, THEY don’t know why she lost either and are doubling down...good luck with that.

I do find it humorous that because I purposely IGNORED your point you are convinced I some how missed it. :dunce:
