Agree, but Buddy Ryan wasn't much of an offensive genius. Cunningham likely had to earn his stats a bit more than McNabb. I really don't have an opinion on which one was better, btw.

No doubt. One coach made his name as a DC and for his 46 defense. The other made his name being Brett Favre's QB coach in Green Bay.

Which would any QB rather start for?

And I think Randall would have been a far better QB with a coach who didn't basically say, "I'll focus on the defense and let #12 do whatever he does on the other side of the ball." I'm paraphrasing, but Buddy made comments to that effect many times over the years.

Not to mention, Donovan McNabb couldn't punt:

Let's examine that:

Career Win/Loss
McNabb 98-62-1 (.609)
Cunningham 82-52-1 (.607)

Playoff Win/Loss
McNabb 9-7 (.563)
Cunningham 3-6 (.333)

Career Passing - Cmp/Att/Cmp%/Yds/TD/INT
McNabb - 3170/5374/59.0%/37,276/234/117
Cunningham - 2429/4289/56.6%/29,979/207/134

Career Rushing - Rush/Yds/Avg/TD
McNabb - 616/3,459/5.6/29
Cunningham - 775/4,928/6.4/35

So, McNabb was clearly the more successful QB in terms of winning, in terms of playoff success, the better passer, the better total yard gainer, the better total TD scorer, the more accurate, and the less prone to INTs. Cunningham was the better rushing QB. Cunningham also wasn't a twat.

I think it can be said McNabb had better players around him and the better coach. Randall should have been in the Super Bowl in 1998, but Gary Anderson had his only missed FG all year against Atlanta.

Keith Byars, Herschel Walker, Keith Jackson, Mike Quick, Cris Carter, Fred Barnett, Calvin Williams and many others would beg to differ.

McNabb got one good WR (Terrell Owens) for one year and got to a Super Bowl, losing by 3 points to a team that knew his team's signals via videotape cheating.

I loved both guys, btw. McNabb did get a little salty toward the end, especially, and never embraced the Philadelphia fan base much (understandable, when you get booed by a band of radio station-bussed thugs on draft day).

Cunningham really did embrace Philly. Cunningham took a beating by the Philly media, but always brushed it off.

McNabb wore it like a giant chip.

That's not making a lot of sense, now is it? In a year that they were racked with injuries, they were a dropped pass from the NFC Championship game.

Maybe start a Broncos thread if you want to discuss mediocrity. Play your cards right at the draft and you might get back to 7 or 8 wins next year.

This last season was the first time in 46 years the Broncos had back to back losing seasons. In game poor decisions by Vance Joseph caused a minimum of 3 losses. With a good head coach and a decent draft, Broncos will resume their normal place in the playoffs.

They have a good coach but Elway will fvck up the draft. Maybe he can rent some more great players before they ride into the sunset.

Eagles notified Foles they intend to exercise his $20M option for 2019 today.

Foles notified Eagles he will opt out at $2M.

Next up:

Eagles will franchise him at ~$25M.

Eagles will trade him. This allows them to 1) keep him out of the division AND 2) get probably a third, maybe a second rounder for him and dump that salary of course

Well there you go. The 7-9 season was due to a horrific slump by Cunningham that led to him being benched after five straight losses in favor of, drumroll, Bubby Brister.

Cunningham's TD/INT for 1994 was 16/13. Yikes.

Bubbly Brister! Now there's the answer to a trivia question. I think he was the biological father of Jared Goff.

Hah. And I double checked the roster to see if the receiving corps was decimated and it wasn't. Fred Barnett started all 16 and Calvin Williams started 14. That was a decent set of bookends. Plus they had Herschel Walker, Charlie Garner, and Vaughn Hebron rushing.

I will say this. He had the biggest bust of a rookie LT ever in Bernard "Toke Em If You Got 'Em" Williams. Started all 16 games in 1994 and never played or passed a drug test again.

The list of Eagles first round busts is long and fairly undistinguished. May have started with Michael Haddix and just got worse from there. Andy Reid even picked a 27 year old volunteer fireman. Classic.

Name the teams in line to sign Foles..?

I already covered it, on this page in fact (7 posts up). The plan all along has been to franchise and trade him.

He'll go to Miami or Jacksonville most likely, for a third round pick. Maybe more if Howie goes full joo.

Try to keep up. :D

I don't see Brian Flores sending draft choices to Philly for Nick Foles and his $25 million TAG salary
The ONLY team that stupid is Jacksonville...

The question is will the NFL GM's conspire to force phily to keep nick-o after they TAG him..?

Eagles extend Brandon Graham 3 years for $40M.

That surprised me. I didn't think Howie could work him in for 2019+.
"Brandon is not only a special player, but a special person. Here's a guy who's never had a bad day," Eagles VP of player personnel Howie Roseman said on NFL Network on Friday. "He fits us. On and off the field, he's the kind of player and person you want to invest in. All of us were just talking to him this morning about how excited he was to be back in Philadelphia.

"Really, he's a legend. He's a legend in Philadelphia, that guy."

The heart of Philly's front seven, Graham has missed just one regular-season game since 2012. The Eagles' Super Bowl run was keyed in part by Graham's play in 2017, when he logged a career-high 9.5 sacks, and cemented when the DE strip-sacked Tom Brady in the closing seconds of Super Bowl LII.

Foles (99.99%) to Jags. Eagles will not tag him. I thought they'd try that but I was wrong.

It was just too risky...
The Jags were the only NFL team seriously sniffing around
and if the Eagles tag him and the Jags walk away - the Eagles are stuck with him at way too high a price

If there was more than ONE TEAM in the running then you absolutely tag him
and play those teams against each other
but Brian Flores made it clear he wasn't giving up a single pick in the draft to anybody for any reason

And to add to the equation, the other tag motivation would be to keep Foles out of the division, and with the Skins and Giants not showing serious interest, that wasn't a concern any longer.

You can rest assured it won’t be till 2023. Jags might make it, but Eagles are 1 and done.

You can never count out a team with that strong of a 53 man roster...
add to that a strong GM
and a strong coaching staff

The Eagles will remain in the mix for the foreseeable future
with that group at the helm

It really all depends on the health of a certain "Dakota-strong" ginger. Fingers crossed.

In other Eagles news, Lane Johnson agrees to restructure his contract for cap health.

And then makes a dick joke about Foles  :
